This is very nice, Carol. I think we remember the souls who were precious to us and we meet them again and again. Nothing is lost in time. A perfect poem. Marilyn

Thank you for the thought-provoking 3 Line Poem and your fascinating scientific notes. Best wishes in the contest- Joan

P.S. Things are a tad better today with PCH open through Topanga for residents. But everything else is still not functioning. The change to off-shore winds should help tomorrow, and we may actually get some rain next week. Fingers and toes crossed!

I've been trying to figure out when the rest of Malibu will open, my mother in law lives on Kanan Road about a half mile from PCH - her house is okay but I think the area is still closed. Yes, rain is looking more likely now starting Wednesday evening..!

My understanding is that PCH is still closed past Pepperdine. We received a message that our power will be out from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, since they will be working on repairs. This is first advance notice we've received; so, things are getting better organized. My best wishes for your mother-in-law. -Joan

Oh, Carol. I have come late into this beautiful three line poem. It's wonderful, and it tells an age old truth. I love it. A wonderful entry for the contest. Good luck.
I've been thinking of you. Are you anywhere near the fires in California? Warm regards. Ulla:)))

Hi Ulla, yes the fires affected the area we live in and my mother in law was evacuated, now staying at our house. It has been unbelievably hectic (sigh). trying to remember how to relax!

Nice work up for your poem and although we can't hear the sound behind the dust of the stars. The volume is so low it is beyond human hearing.

What an educative post this is. How do radio waves manage then? I am not trying to be clever, just genuinely interested. Aside from the technical aspect this is a lovely romantic thought.

Radiowaves are on the electromagnetic spectrum (like visible light, infrared, etc) while sound wave move by bouncing off molecules. Thanks for the nice review!!

Superb interesting notes and super touching theme, well expressed and finely presented with apt artwork to illustrate your poem. I love how the poem sets a stage of expanded time and space and then zooms the lens in on LOVE with a satori-like aha. Brilliant. Well voiced phonetics too, especially the S and T sounds. Superb flow. Bravo.
Love,
rd

Thank you so much, I enjoyed writing this one. In fact, it was my conversation with you about sound traveling through space that inspired it :))

Beautiful poem, Carol! I have heard that there really is a "music of the spheres." And someone actually did a recording of the sound they detected (so many octaves below human hearing) and added the sound of the humpback whales and somehow they blended well together. For me, the poem is a spiritual message of God's message to me from the time of creation.

Aren't whales amazing? I love that idea of blending their sounds with the music of the spheres, I'll have to look that up.

You know, I almost wrote "Your" voice in this poem, because I had that thought.,

Wow! Excellent poetry, Carol. I trust you will be promoting this one. I think it is well worth it, my friend. Hope all is well with you? They are telling me to lengthen my text so there we are. Bless you, Bob

I wrote this before all the fires started around my home and I haven't had time to read in order to promote it. It was for a contest and I didn't want to miss the deadline. Thanks so much for reading it for 2 cents!

Years from now, when you're a world renowned writer, we'll refer to this time as your "Carl Sagan period". I'm dating myself, but I remember when broadcast TV stations used to sign off about 2 am- after that, if you tuned in, you'd just see "snow". I remember learning that what we were seeing was, in part anyway, remnants of radiation generated by the Big Bang - if I were in a slightly buzzed state ( as I often was at 2 am in those days), I'd sit and watch the static and contemplate the vastness of the cosmos ( in that pseudo-profound way that only a drunk 20 year old can).

Your musings are much more intelligent and articulate.

Lolol, I think our 20-year old selves would have gotten along great. I don't know why but these short poems always make me think about the cosmos. I remember having thoughts that seemed so very profound in those days - a bit harder to come by now. THanks, Mark, as always,

What a romantic poem. The use of the word "eons" gives your love such a lasting, infinite quality. And how sensual that you chose the voice to wrap around the heart. Even if you weren't using the sound motif, the voice is so much sexier than face or body.
Thanks ago for those notes about old star dust. That is fascinating. And your lover's voice manages to make it through. Good job.
