Congrats on your win and these lines made way to the horror story below: "He took her fragile ego,
and crushed it neath his boot.
So much of what he said he loved
about her rendered moot.
She heard the doorknob turning..." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

The intensity of this story was dynamically surreal, full of symbolism that made it feel that moment of panic racing, along with the slow process that gave this story plenty of chills.

Excellent- I rushed from line to line. The cadence was only broken with "guaranteed to stay sharp for life. Try "Guaranteed sharp for life" ? Does that make sense? Great, strong poem.

Sorry, but this story didn't do it for me. Too straightforward, like a boilerplate TV script. Lots of predictable language, twists, and turns. It's nothing personal, just like more originality in my reads.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.

YIKES. You have thoroughly addressed the issues of alcohol filled anger that leads to many domestic violence cases. Your descriptions of the actions/emotions is so well-written. A great response to this writing prompt and a great contest entry. Good luck.

Well, well...I can't say I saw that ending coming, but the ending was composed well and the poem definitely fit the prompt. She did forget to lock her door and look who moseyed in...her past. This was rhymed well and presented with solid flare and pacing. The black on red added to the ambiance/feel of the dark write. Good luck in the contest, writer :)

Well that certainly learnt him didn't it? Well done you have written a full length novel in a poem. I think you have a very good competition entry here. Good luck and best wishes. Jen.

This is indeed a scary poem. Scarier than graveyards and ghosts because, unfortunately, it's based on reality.
I've enjoyed reading it very much.
Thanks for sharing.

A very well-written poem about the abused girl who forgot to lock her door and the abuser manage to come in once again to abuse her like so many times before, but she has a surprise for him, it was his last chance for sure.

A poignant story that many will identify with, alcohol has been the cause of many hearts to be broken and abuse is a cycle that never ends unles one person breaks that chain, I took a the walk on the dark side here, love Dolly x
