Good luck with the contest. This was rather enjoyable to read, Yvette. You chose a delightful picture which was beautiful but didn't give you a clue about the story. Mac gave no clue that Celia was a cat and he had stolen the body from the vet. Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Thanx for the read and review, aryr, and your supportive comments! :) ;) This was one of those 'enter it to challenge yourself as an author' contests for me ... horror is certainly not 'my genre'! :) ;) And I'm pretty sure this is it for me, though, as I just don't do 'dark' very well...:) ;) Thanx again for stopping in -- here's wishing you a wonderful week of light and uplifting Halloween FUN! :) ;) Yvette :)

He needed someone to love and to love him. It was wrong to steal, but love will make people do things they wouldn't otherwise do. :)

Hello Y. M. Roger
When I saw your title of your story Cecelia got my full attention, why, Stan and I have a cat named Cecelia and fun reading your ghostly story for the contest; until I read with your ending was a of unexpected horror.
I wish you the best in this contest
Gert

Here I was thinking it was his wife. This man certainly has a strong attachment to his cat. Here's hoping he gets her stuffed or bronzed if he intends on keeping her.

You wrote a first-rate scene about a man named, Mac, and his cat companion waiting at home calmly in the chair where he leaves it before going to work. Mac, a strange guy, can't liberate himself from his dead cat. Very nice scene writing.

If you can write good scenes, from my point of view, you will do well in any genre. For instance, this proves it.

Very well told. Of course, the picture gave away the real punchline. I do hope he called a taxidermist first after stealing the cat from the vet's clinic. Thanks for a delightful read!

Okay...so, I changed the pic -- you were right! :) ;) This was one of those 'enter it to challenge yourself as an author' contests for me ... horror is certainly not 'my genre' so I wasn't paying as close attention as I should have when choosing a pic - almost nervous about the post! :) ;) I'm pretty sure this is it for me, though, as I just don't do 'dark' very well...:) ;) Thanx for stopping in, Helen -- here's wishing you a wonderful week of light and uplifting Halloween FUN! :) ;) Yvette :)
