LOL! I'm more vodka....the 'Tom' should have been a 'Vodka' and the martini is vodka....although, I must say, the chocolate martinis have moved up on my list. And if I have a glass of wine, never gonna be merlot...always gonna be a fruity white. And, there it is, the truth of the author....she fibbed! :) :) Pretty much only on the drinks, though, I needed the rhythm to work...glad you liked it, I'm still on the fence whether it came out like I intended, but I suppose, at this point, it is what it is. :) :) Thanx for stopping in for the read and review, dude! :) :)

A very well-written rhyming poem. Our dreams from childhood to adulthood and old age differs from time to time. We do not always receive the things we dream about.

Hi Sandra - thanx so much for stopping by for the read and review - so appreciated! I tried to have fun with this while also looking back on some things that I really would have enjoyed had I taken those paths, but then I wouldn't have my awesome sons and my wonderful husband! :) :) You be sure to make some memories worth re-living this week! :) :)

This is very good! There are many things that we want to do in life, but life has other plans. Still, we must remind ourselves that we'll make it somehow. I like the flow and rhyme scheme. Good luck in the contest!

There is always room for living meaningfully, and we understand what is life, but we fail to live, we keep changing our goals and live a life never expected or thought of or planned; well said, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR

A nice commentary on the celebration of life through it's various stages. Makes good use of a settled rhyming scheme, and though the various life paths mentioned (CIA, Air Force etc) might not be common fare, the feelings engendered are common to most people. Feelings of having a future.... then realizing it (or not).... trading career for motherhood etc.

Then at the end as "empty-nesters" yet feeling life's next adventure is about to start.

I like your progression of drink choices to symbolize the different points in your life. You seemed to have a lot of choices throughout your life, but you are satisfied with the ones you made. A vivid picture of a life well lived.

You wrote a poem about my life. You hit on three of the four criteria I rate poetry on. It rhymes, it makes sense, and it touched me emotionally. Good luck in the contest.
