What wonderful good fortune, Bill! I'm very happy for the both of you.
I know I've been offline for a while, but I must confess I'm quite disillusioned with the whole fanstory thing. The same people win all the time, and unless you're willing to pay a bunch, you won't get many reviews, let alone win contests.
Oh, well, I'll stop my bellyaching and say I'm glad you had such good fortune.

When I want to promote a piece and I?m at zero, I first do the front poems at a buck or more a piece. There?s twelve dollars right there. Then I go to the contests and read through all th3 shorter po3ms first. That?s usually good for ten bongo bucks too. That?s usually enough to promote two pieces.

Good idea. Thanks, Bill.

What a thoughtful mom and I'm glad it all worked out. It would be nice if this was a true story. For your sake I hope it is. Fixed rate at 8% brings $161,000 plus. Good job. Marilyn

Without going into great detail, it is not exactly true. I put ten grand in a draft investing account back in 1982 that paid 8% and would still be paying that if I'd left it in there. Through the acts of fate I wasn't allowed to leave it there, but I figured the yield to now and the end number would have been correct. Dad left me a lot though, so, yay parents.

I'm hoping it's a true story! I don't know if the calculations work but I believe you. Thirty-six years later, a lot of interest could have happened. Fun story. Good luck in the contest.

Man oh man, you are one lucky son of a saint. It looks like your mom ;loved you a lot, I mean really a lot. It could also mean that she feared that you would never make a dime from this writing thing that you were involved in. It sucks that she is no longer around for you to express your gratitude.

If this happened to you for real then good for you. In 75 word you made me believe you had a stroke of good luck. Good luck in the contest. No disrespect but I hope you take second place.

Hi Bill,
Wow!
What a thoughtful mum.
Sometimes the less we know the easier to judge another but this sure would have been proof positive of the love held in her heart.
I wonder how often this kind of generosity occurs in reality.
A clever idea thoughtfully penned to create an unexpected outcome.
Blessings

This is a very well written 75 Words Flash Fiction story you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive words and good imagery from the art work. That would be a surprise if that happened to me! Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

Ah for some of that magic of compound interest, eh? Excellent flash fiction, Bill. Now can I hit you up for a loan?
Wishing you much luck in the contest.
