I like your sonnet Michael. I always have had problems writing one. I don't know the rules. I don't know which vowel is high and which is low. Nor if there are female ending and I hate looking up on a dict. But I like your sonnet... so could you please tell me why you have 11 syllables on lines on 9 and 11? Or are you looking for someone to follow your poem and see if they swallow those lines? Tell me please. I'm all hearing aids.

    Hi, Poetwatch.

Yes, these are a major pain to learn. It took me longer than most. The meter is not that special, most popular music uses it. The first test is to read it. If it reads smoothly without any stumbles, then the meter is probably correct. Yes, those are feminine endings. That only means, an extra SOFT beat is added at the end of a regular line. Most lines are ten syllables ending in a STRONG beat. Sometimes a feminine line will be followed by a nine syllable line that is missing the first SOFT beat, to make the flow even smoother. All of this stuff has fancy names that sound like some genius is at work ... but it's all daDUM daDUM daDUM one way or another. LOL mike

I like this poem a lot.. it had most of the elements of a poem that I like. It rhymed, it made sense, and it touched me emotionally. Thats the trifecta right there.
