Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

It is a good poem about Chamberlain the cover war hero. I studied many battles from the civil war though his charge is what first fascinated me with the topic. I'm sorry I did not review sooner it was the first time making a contest and I never really stayed on track with it. Good job again, I'm glad I found someone with the same fascination as me.

Hi

This is an excellent written poem about Charmberlain. I have given you 4 stars as this competition required a freestyle poem and to give you the motivation to change it to a freestyle format as there is only 2 days left and I would like to see this horse in the race. Not to be put down at the start line.

Suggestion using your own words but I would still work on it but atleast getting it into a freestyle type format.

Before the end of Gettysburg

One of Marine's favorite son's

had led a bayonet charge

Once complete

Battalion won

Much to the rebelā??s woe

Chamberlain man had no ammunition

Such a brave movie

Today is taught to our troops

For the confident leadership

Generalship was given to Joshua Chamberlain

Regards
Tia

P.S. I have a question what makes it a brave move, slightly confusing.

You might want to revise the entry. Free verse can have some rhyme, but only an occasional rhyme. It cannot have a rhyme pattern as this one does. Good luck.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

A bayonet charge with or without ammo is a scary thing at the best of times, although such things were more likely in WW! and prior. You were right. it doesn't ryhme and your meter is way off even for free verse.
But it's historical and an important moment in such.
You brought it to our attention

I am the keeper of my family's ancestry. I admire and love historical pieces of our nations heroes. I had relatives that fought against each other during the Civil War. I found a trove of information in the war archives. I think you did a fine job here with General Joshua Chamberlain. Great photo.
All my best in the War contest!

Thanks, he is one of my personal heroes. I knew about him before the movie Gettysburg made him a household name. Thanks for reading and reviewing my work.

The man did what he had to do in order to survive. He couldn't let his troops down so he led the charge with what he had at hand to use.

He was a very brave man indeed. I wish we had some like him today. Unfortunately, Ever since Korea, it seems that all the armed force can do is retreat.

You're right about that. It used to be war was about taking territory and keeping it, not since Vietnam. Thanks for reading and your 5 star review.

Excellent Poem! The author's words were strong, interesting
and a great tribute to Joshua Chamberlain. The reader pondered
on his leadership. The artwork is perfect and compliments both
the theme and words of this poem.

I assure you the last thing a soldier wished to hear is fix bayonets. Nothing can raise the hair on the back of the neck is hearing men screaming at the top of their voices and running toward the enemy with 11 inches of cold steel looking at you.
Been there done that. My appreciation to the writer. Best wishes.
