a wonderful offering that rings so true. 'a teacher should teach his charge to learn how to learn, in that someday she/he will teach'. I just made that up. I let Cyndy vote in this contest and she didn't vote for mine. the hell of it is, she didn't vote for yours either. some retraining is in order here. congrats, Yvette..................meeshu

Oh my goodness -- I so needed this hearty laugh this morning!! :) :) Yeah, what are ya gonna do with a spouse that sees things 'the wrong way'!! LOL...LOL!! :) :) Ya know, I do so very much love my students!! :) :) Wouldn't trade any of them ... even the ones that try my patience now and again ... I tend to look at them as being the ones who will probably be leaders one day!! :) :) But their parents...well, I will leave this response on a happy note and just not 'go there'...Blessings! :)

A prose story in stanzas with lines 2 and 4 of each stanzas rhyming. What do you call that rhyme scheme and poem form? Trying to learn as I review. Interesting muse you have but understand the need to preserve the sanity when being a teacher. Thank you for promoting your work and good luck in the vote.

It is called abcb rhyme scheme ... no poem form, per se, beyond simply 'rhyming'. And teaching is/was my passion, but how 'things' have slowly evolved was my 'door' to begin writing: had to create some worlds and realities that felt comfortable and made me smile....make no mistake, I do so very much love my students!! :) :) Wouldn't trade any of them ... even the ones that try my patience now and again ... I tend to look at them as being the ones who will probably be leaders one day!! :) :) Many thanx for stopping by and have a lovely evening of cricket-led insect choruses! ;) :)

Wonderful, how true it is, you are right its only a grades game now and the pressure of excelling is high now. I like it when you say...My muse, per se, is simply the goal
of preserving my sanity! Concluded well.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words, hargunanand, and for those beautiful stars! :) :) I'm actually semi-retired now so pressure?s not there, but it truly was my 'door' to begin writing: had to create some worlds and realities that felt comfortable and made me smile....make no mistake, I do so very much love my students!! :) :) Wouldn't trade any of them ... even the ones that try my patience now and again ... So this is the life of a teacher. "Blame it on the teacher for that 'C' I got in Geography. Everyone knows that the world is flat. You can see it on the board, on the map. But when the teacher said it was round... I did make a sound, Ma." The muse must accept. This is a good entry for the My Muse contest. :)

A very well-written poem about the Muse of a teacher that cannot dare to be absent for one day. It must be there anytime when needed to amuse the children and inspire them to learn as hard as they can.

A good poem for the contest! The idea of sanity being your muse is an original one. You used unique words to rhyme with. Which looked hard, but felt easy to the reader. The length and beat were nice. You've done a good job. Good luck in the contest!

Your entry for the "My Muse" Poetry contest is very well rhymed and well written, Yvette.
It also happens to be true.
It never ceases to amaze me when I hear young parents making plans for their infant child as to which university they'll be attending and what they will be majoring in.
I guess it never hurts to be prepared, but that's a bit overkill if you ask me.
Good luck to you!

Oh my goodness -- you do not know how 'spot on' you are, Dean: these parents are like vicious and driven...problem is, they've taken that drive 'away' from their children...sigh. But, hey, I'm semi-retired now so pressure?s not there, but this whole 'shift' in society truly was my 'door' to begin writing: had to create some worlds and realities that felt comfortable and made me smile....I do so very much love my students!! :) :) Wouldn't trade any of them ... even the ones that try my patience now and again ... I tend to look at them as being the ones who will probably be leaders one day!! :) :) Many thanx for stopping by and have a lovely evening of cricket-led insect choruses! ;) :)

I commend you on this great poem and for being a teacher that strives to see her students learn! It's awesome to see that you are not so focused on the earning. I sat down and figured out what a teacher would make if given a babysitters salary for all those kids and it's astonishing! Anyway, back to your poem, it's wonderful and refreshing to see.

I really like this. What good is an A if you don't really know anything as you so eloquently eluded to. Fortunately, their are still good teachers who are interested in students learning something. You've shared an excellent message that should be heeded in this well written poem. Great job and well done!
