An interesting 2-4-4 example with a great accompanying visual. I like the clever double entendre in the word: 'sheepishly' as in both 'looking foolish' as well as 'resembling a sheep'. Ditto for the play on words: 'sheared delight' (poodles often need to be trimmed) and the sheer delight bestowed on the owner by this cuddly woolly creature. Good luck in the contest. Best wishes.

I enjoyed your haiku, Bill. Good job expressing your thought in so few syllables. They create a great picture. The real picture is great, too. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Jan

Gotta love them! Smart dogs ever. My mom had one and she was so incredibly smart. Though I have to go against the 'sheepishly shy'. They are vicious sometimes and bark at everything, hahaha. Love them though. I like the alliteration you made with the 'Sh' sound.

I'm sure any poodle would agree to you. "Sheared delight" is a great word play. Nice alliteration with sheepishly shy. It makes a connection with the sheep that have to be sheared and a poodle who needs to be groomed. I think that poodle in the picture looks pretty cute in her natural state. judi

Sheep and poodles resemble each other. One is tasty, one is not.
You must be careful to not put the wrong one in your pot
You will likely tell right away which one you have got
One will bark, one will bleat
One will be tender and tasty, the other will be tough to eat.

Cute one, Bill! I like your use of alliteration and the sibilants of " sheepishly shy ... sheared" all work well to draw us an auditory picture as well as the echo of the phrase, "sheer delight."

Real cute. If the picture showed a poodle with a hair cut it would be over the top. :-) I like your stuff and am going to become a fan.

I didn't realize they are a shy breed. I like the words 'sheared delight.' I prefer them unsheared. I see this one is giving himself a pedicure. lol
