What a juxtapositional message. It has such a cool ending. That sounds like such a good idea to spread happiness and give new life to people's day. Very clever.

Hello Anon
You have created a intriguing character with a few light touches: the rock painting is very good, creative and quirky.
The resolution (as to why the character can't eat and why breakfast is so late) is unexpected and very satisfactory.
Great writing - you must do well with this: you have my vote
cheers

Hello Mystery Writer,
Woah! I never expected that ending...or that hobby...and how the protagonist employs his hobby throughout the city. Very clever. Reminds me of the artist in Ann Arbor, MI who paints creative scenes out of object he finds along the city sidewalks.
Your writing is easy to follow and flows well.
Best Wishes!

This is very well done. You should do well in the contest. I enter a lot of them but seldom win. Still, I enjoy the competition and reading the other entries.

This story is rock solid...you could say you rock a kid's world....I guess you could rock around the clock...eating in the morgue would churn my stomach too.
Well penned good use of the words
God bless

I liked this story... a portrait of a night shift janitor! I really like how the story begins about not needing a clock to tell him when to sleep. I like how he says he isn't lonely, and then admits that maybe sometimes he is. And I love the rock painting! I keep saying he, but I guess the narrator can be any gender. Nice entry! Good luck!

Good job, Mystery Author, with your little story. Your lines flow well with a great story. I like the opposing job/free time actions. We could not live without janitors. Every job is important even ones others demean like janitors. Then the painting of the rocks and leaving them as surprises to be found is such a joyous activity that gives pleasure to the painter and the one who finds a painted rock. Good job and thanks for sharing. Best wishes. Jan
