Hi Harry T. This entry gave me food for thought and I enjoyed your presentation also quite striking. Using all those punctuation marks may bring the wrath from the creator LOL did you count them Ha Ha Good luck with the contest Cheers Christine

Thanks for the read and the comments. Did not count them.

Nicely done, Harry! I'm impressed by your ability to say something quite meaningful given the 15 word, 71 character constraints. And, I love the nostalgic image. I have one of those old typewriters in my poem too. Best to you, RFL

Thanks much for the read and the kind words. I wish I had kept my old Smith-Corona.

This poetry is a nice work done, I like, and I find the meaning is clear; it was an easy, informative read.
But, I find there is a clear violation of the contest rule.
This has 77 characters instead of 71 characters required for writing the poetry.
I am sorry, I cannot rate this more than two ** stars.
Please do not take it personally. Better check it out and you will also find this has 77 characters.
Given below is the copy of your post that I reviewed and rated:
I keep copy of each post I review.
The scribe interjecting, (this line has 22 characters)
â??We do have influence. (this line has 19 characters)
People do depend on us. (this line has 19 characters)
Express the truth!â?? (this line has 17 characters)
You see, your earlier post that I reviewed had 77 characters instead of 71 characters required.
If you have changed, edited your post today, I am not going to review and rate the same since it is contest entry and you cannot request me for reviewing your edited entry, as it is common sense, after the result is out, a teacher cannot be requested to evaluate the corrected answer for it is not fair.
Please do not take it personally, we all make mistakes, it is good if we learn by our mistakes.
Hope I have clarified the point.
Thank you for writing.

I like the idea of the scribe interjecting . . this idea could be used in many way on Fanstory. Just imagine as you are writing a story, your thoughts were transferred onto the page. Yes, the truth should be adhered to for the validity of the written word which affects the outcome for the newspaper or book. Well done.

Thanks very much for your read and your comments. This was a challenging contest.

Well done in another strange contest with odd requirements. LOL
You should check the number of characters (letters, numbers, etc.) The rules call for 71 and you have 63. I use wordcalc.com to check. It gives syllables, lines, words and characters. This thing is a pain, but you can change a couple words and you'll get it. Good luck! You managed to write a great piece though. :)) mike

Thanks for the tip. My calculator said 71 characters. I wonder if counted quotation marks. Are they characters? Using your wordcal.com
I rewrote as follows:
The scribe interjecting,
?We do have influence.
People do depend on us.
Express the truth!?

I was wondering too about "characters", so I didn't punctuate or anything. Jeesh. What a contest. LOL

People do depend on us.
Express the truth
That's a mouthful as I open up the news around the world each and every morning.
How much is truth and how much is it intended to catch some poor politician or whomever in a vise of disdain, criminality or to reflect the opinions of a political longing.
Expressing the truth is as variable as what truth is desired.
This short write brings the crux out well.

Thanks for the read and the comments. There is a difference between news and editorials, between truth and opinion, hopefully writers and readers can discern the difference.

So true and there is some duty in what we write although not everyone feels that way, wise and profound words here, good luck with the contest, love Dolly x
