Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

That happens, people also forget about why they are there, and that is to socialize.
You have 50 words and good luck in the contest.
I am having trouble entering data, so if I sent something before forgive me.

This fifty-word story, Ladies That Lunch, has an ironic slant to it as the idea of who finds who interesting and why is played out. Funny.

This is great and you did such a wonderful job within the 50 words. Isn't that the way it goes when you take your old parents out for a meal in public? They probably feel the same way about us. All my kindest regards to you and yours. I know you will do well in the contest. Sally

This is awfully cute. You will draw many readers in who are either in the same mind frame as the mums, has mums who are similar. You created great imagery. You can almost see what was going on in the planning minds of the daughters and their bemusement when they realize their do good efforts did not go at all the way they had planned. There are many who resist going to senior center activities because they do not want to hang out with old people. This becomes universal in its message. This is a lovely tribute to people of any age. Thank you. I'm voting for this

Even the best laid plans can fall by the wayside.
Who knew?
I volunteer in nursing homes in our area spending time with residents just chatting and shooting the breeze.
But I pretty much enjoy talking to people of all ages...except teens.
I ain't got much use for them.
Sad, but true.
Best of luck to you in the contest.
~Dean

I get far more blessing from the residents I visit than they could ever hope to get from me.
I really enjoy my time spent with them.
And, oh, the stories they tell!
I use a great deal of them for inspiration for my own writing.
    You are very welcome, Author.

This is more than a nice vignette using a budget of words, it's a a real truth for me. I don't have a single friend who qualifies as a senior and I'm pushing 70.

I found your opening line a little awkward, and suggest you turn it around. Both my friend's mother and mine were visiting our homes. etc.

There's no need to use her name--Liz--is not necessary in a short piece where there is no confusion.

Good luck.

I love it.

The truth is, no matter how old we get we never seem (speaking for myself) to realize that the "old people" we chat to are the same age as us. I FEEL like I belong chatting to 30-50 year olds...and I'm 61. LOL.

Wow! This is so true. Since my husband has Alzheimer's, I moved us to a place for old folks waiting to die. At least, that's my impression. Most residents are in their late eighties. A couple are over a hundred. I'm 76, so it's rough. We feed off the energy of the young.

I am also 76 going on 30. I can't imagine how awful it must be for you having to live amongst old people. Thanks for the review.

Lol, that's funny. Too bad it didn't work out as planned. The word count is accurate. This one is the best one I have read so far. Good luck in the contest.

Ha-I guess maybe we all like to think the next old girl is older than we are-LOL. Great little tale in these 50 words and well put together. Best of luck.
