A very well-written Septolet. We do need to have silence sometimes either for the silence to speak to us or other times the silence are listening to our thoughts.

Thank you for your review, Sandra - your time doing so is much appreciated! :) ;) This was one that kinda whispered to me when I was focused on writing about totally different subjects!! :) ;) I guess these unfamiliar styles are hit and miss, but from the description and example they gave, this was what I got out of it...:) Thanx again for stopping by and have a wonderful evening of star gazing and soft melodies! :) :)

It's amazing that such profound thoughts can be fit into only fourteen words, but you've managed to do it. I enjoyed your poem, and agree with what you said. You also followed the septolet rules perfectly, and I wish you luck in the contest.

I'm glad my words had such an impact. I know how you feel about trying new styles. I submitted my first-ever loop poem to the contest and was afraid to look at the reviews but, luckily, they've been good so far. Now I think I'll go star gaze with soft music in the background. (Your suggestion was much better than anything I had planned for the evening!)

I feel your words, unfortunately in silence I hold onto negative thoughts. I am working on meditation habits to relax more in silence. Your poem has great flow, perfect form, and a universal theme. Good luck in the contest.

Keep on working, jaded831 -- work your way up to it with instrumental in the back ground...then just lower the volume a bit every few times til you get there! :) :) Thank you for your review -- your time doing so is much appreciated! :) ;) And I am so very glad that you enjoyed this write -- it was one that kinda whispered to me when I was focused on writing about totally different subjects!! :) ;) I guess these unfamiliar styles are hit and miss, but from the description and example they gave, this was what I got out of it...:) Thanx again for stopping by and have a wonderful evening of star gazing and soft melodies! :) :)

I like Silence best when neither it nor anyone else is speaking, although it speaks well for you today (as it has earned my vote, and probably others).
Good luck!

I love the variable light and dark photo that amplifies your theme of opposites. A beautiful poem that obviously is a spot on entry for this prompt. Very well done!

Hi anon, this is an excellent entry to the contest. A perfect Septolet with the required 14 words in two parts. Very well thought out wording and so true. Certainly silence helps us to think. A very eye catching picture that drew me in. Well done and Good Luck - regards Dorothy

Very nice! This one made me pause and think--a keen observation of an obvious but too often unrecognized truth will do that. Great writing. Best of luck in the contest--this is definitely a contender!

I like this view of silence as wise partner who knows when it's best to let the silence speak directly to the soul. Sometimes the silence is there to listen without interruption or comment.

What a wonderful way to think about silence and what it means to the individual " I like your interpretation "to listen to our thoughts" I often think the silence carries thoughts of others to us? ( yours is better) many thanks for sharing and best wishes for your contest****kahpot
