This is as gruesome as your scene with the Vietcong. Maybe this was just a specially posed picture, if you could convince the komodo dragon it's just a photo op. Poor goats don't have much of a way to fight back. Excellent internal rhyme. Wish I'd waited longer after dinner to "digest" this. judi

Almost a tongue twister. I like the format and the change in the last line of the second stanza. A fun read aloud poem. Is 'Baaaaa' considered a song? LOL

This might be "goat down the throat to a lizard gizzard", but it is pretty gruesome as some nature tends to be! I tend to like the plant eaters,ð???!

Run kid, run! Why is that goat just sitting there as if resigned to its fate. I would be running, fighting, doing everything I could to not be eaten. This is a clear difference between animals and man. Few if any peope would just sit there and calmly accept this fate. Wow!

The goat was probably bitten earlier, was finally immobilized by the toxins in the lizard's maul, and then stalked to this point of being eaten alive.

That sucker would never get close enough to me, that is unless it caught me sleeping. Remind me to never sleep anywhere they hang out.

This speaks apparently the poor goat is bound for becoming a victim but if the goat could sing a note a reverse thing could happen; well said, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR

Hi Bill. Komodo dragons are fascinating. They usually do not always eat their prey right away. I don't know what is worse. To get bit and die from blood poising 24 hours later or be shredded to death. They bite their prey and if the prey manages to escape, the Komodo's saliva causes an infection and blood poisoning within 24 hours. They follow the victim until it weakens from the infection and then eat it. Argh. Good job as usual. Thank you for sharing

The food chain continues and the weak succumb to the strong, and we are emotional about it! Yes the ill-fainted goat got his poor head caught in the mouth of the dragon! 'Goat down the throat', Love Dolly x

Okay, so, question here: is there a name for this kind of poetry? Maybe Schott Therapy....? ;) LOL
This is certainly a unique combination of prose and rhyme...gives the end of each stanza more of a dramatic ending....the hammer really coming down so to speak.
Thanx for the interesting write! :) ;)

Oh dear, that picture is giving me a headache! Poor goat!
Interesting free verse structure that ends in an internal rhyme in the last two lines of each stanza.

It's a rough picture to be sure. Each line, actually, has an internal rhyme. Happy day.

Darn! How could I miss that? I guess my head hurt too much. Great job with the internal rhymes!

I must admit this one was tough for me to get through because of my connection to animals. Yet you conveyed a strong message and the writing is flawless so five stars!

Thanks, Shauna. Sorry if the picture was too stark.
