This is a very well written chapter of your ramblings. I enjoyed seeing all the pictures of you and your sweet wife. I am so sorry you are having trouble with all these things. That does not help with the diabetes either. You and she will be in my prayers my friend! You know Geoffrey I know in the Bible it says He won't put more on us than we can bear, but some days it seems really hard to bear things. Stay strong! Blessings, Teri

Sis Teri, God has said He won't always protect us from things but He will see us through them. Thanks for the scriptural admonishment. Lord Bless.

My goodness! I'm 81 and must be the picture of health compared to you at 67. You are fortunate to obtain the medication and medical devices you need. I'm sure the bed you sleep in can make a big difference. Sleep apnea is surely nothing to be trifled with, so it's good you have medication, and the MedicAlert gives peace of mind. I don't have a MedicAlert yet, and so far haven't felt the need for one. You are blessed to have a great outlook and take these medical problems in stride and with a touch of humor. The U.S. is pretty generous. With Medicare and supplemental insurance, most of my medical expenses and prescriptions are covered. judi

Thanks Judi. Good to know US covers you. It sometimes appears from outside you guys are up for much more private outlay than we are. I feel sorry for Third World and African Nations where they either do not provide or the despots are keeping all the nations resources income from their own people..Mobutu and Mugabe come to mind at the moment. Appreciate your detailed review.

Hi, Sankey. Good to hear from you. In the U.S., there's Medicaid for the younger people who can't afford health care. Of course I have to pay for supplemental insurance, but that means I'm pretty well covered. You're right about the African countries. There's no reason they should be living in poverty, and as you say, the money probably goes to the dictators. judi

Getting older is no fun at all. You are so right, it is then we start to fall apart health wise. Me, it's gout, Diabetes Type-2, high cholestoral, and a restricted diet. Enjoyed this posting, or ramble, as you referred to it. Sleep Apnea, boy how well I can relate to that.

A very well-written story about the development of our health issues over the years it is said that after 50 years we enter the AIDS era - Hearing AIDS, band AIDS, walking AIDS, medical AIDS, government AIDS, monetary AIDS mostly for our children's sake and lastly, HIV - Hair Is Vanishing. Lol.

NS - A cheaper way to lift the heaviness from your feet is to put pillows at your feet to lift the heavy blankets.

G'Day Sankey from a fellow true blue fair dinkum ridgy-didge Antipodean son-of-a-beach.

This is quite a place this FanStory.

Aside from the standard poetic and short story fare, you can find posts about everything from NRL team Top Tryscorers (yes really) to, now, a person's medical history. Amazing.

Having said that, I don't think it's at all a bad thing. People are social creatures. We need to communicate and share "stuff". Not being critical. Hell I do it too through my writing too.

It does present a dilemma as to how to "rate" this stuff though. I have no clue.... but I'm gonna give you marks for even being able to spell some of those medications and conditions.

Mate.... respect to you and your wife. Fight the good fight and enjoy life as best you can. We've got a huge advantage over most here to start with. We live in the most wonderfully awesome place on the planet. Let's enjoy it eh?

Hoo-roo!

Thanks, Bill I might get an Aussie group going in here. What say you? We have a few Bible Bashers (I am one but I don't thump anybody) and some of those are Aussie. Appreciate your kind words. I met my wife when we both worked at Concord Hospital and with all the Medical stuff I have managed to get around some of the terminologies ok. Never mind every time they asked me "have I been in hospital!!" Sigh! Cheers will look for your stuff.

When one's life becomes overbearing with illnesses, they should have the right to seek a way out. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Hello Sankey, lovely to see you at FS today and thank you for sharing your story. It is very candid and you are obviously managing several debilitating illnesses, and doing it with a lot of grace, I might add, going by this writing. I saw no errors and I so get the comment about Australian spelling etc. English is very different from country to country, but as this is a predominantly American site, we are often corrected for things that aren't wrong in our culture. So I think it is good to put that in the author notes for the spelling, and the syllable count in poetry, it certainly changes that too.

I do hope you keep on keeping on and your health problems are manageable for you. All the best and thanks for sharing your writing, Ana.

Hi Ana a fellow Aussie or where from? I think we have met before but if not I will certainly look for your writings. I used to say British English but I have a feeling it might have been yourself decided it for me that Aussie English is more accurate. never mind the strine and stuff we often do, hehe. Thanks again.

I wanted to write a book and may still called "The Struggle With Strine". We are in the Rat Race State of NSW. How did we do in State of Origin this year? IN Tom's favour...he recently rescued my autobiography that got Deleted by me accidentally. I think you might have visited called "The Little Dog That Wouldn't Let Go" Subtitled "GOD NEVER LETS GO!" Have a look at the last chapter if you want my "Geoffossary" My name is Geoff by the way.
