This is an excellent contest entry. My personal psychic advisor, Homer the Chimp, tells me that this is the winning entry. So I'm betting $2,00 pesos on it to win.

Thank you for your review, Thomas. This was only my second one of the "use these specific words" contests to try -- for me, it literally comes down to the question: DO these words IMMEDIATELY manifest into an idea in my head....a rhythm, an image, a melody (like this one!), something...?? And if the answer is 'no' within the first few moments, then I don't even wrack my brains over it...too much else clogging up the ol' thinker as it is!! These should be a fun distraction not another 'thing that needs doin'"! :) :) Hope this finds you taking the week ahead to discover some unknown fairy hideouts in your yard (or house elves in the basement!) and enjoying the symphony of birdsong in the process!!! :) :) Yvette

Keep dancing and laughing while the party's fun. I can hear
your music loud and clear from down yonder. I'm sure you
had a hoot of fun writing this poem for the challenge. Well
done and great imagination. I'll bring the peach pie. flylikeaneagle

What an awesome response to this writing prompt! I love the rhyming pattern--it makes it really flow throughout. You've used all the words required for the contest. Good luck to you. This is a very strong contender! :)

Wonderful. I enjoyed your references to the River Styx and Charon's gaze. Loved your rhymes and the unfailing rhythm. Enjoyed the repetition at the end as well. I'll vote for this one. Good luck in the contest. Hope you win. I read them all. This is by far the best.

Now I'm so curious about who this is. Someone who knows me, obviously. Someone who knows I garden. Can't wait to find out! Your poem was terrific- you're a poet!

a great rhyme scheme, here. and the third line in each could be separated and formed into a monorhyme poem itself. well crafted piece..

These should be a fun distraction not another 'thing that needs doin'"! :) :) Hope this finds you taking the rest of the weekend to discover some unknown fairy hideouts in your yard (or house elves in the basement!) and enjoying the symphony of birdsong in the process -- make sure you do it before you pour your mug and put on the melodies, though!!! :) :)

A very well-written rhyming poem and excellent use of the prescribed words to write a poem that is joyful and uplifting. Working and having a great time while the music is playing.

You fulfilled the brief and included all the words and I wish you luck with the contest, your poem is a bit like a sea shanty, a song about a sinking boat, love Dolly x

This poem is very well written, well rhymed
with excellent imagery, too.
Best to laugh while the music plays
for there might not be much laughter when it stops.
Even ferrymen have their moment
Well done
Good luck in the contest

I like your first two verses. The descriptions give the reader a glance inside the mind of the speaker. They can then wonder will he will take us...ah down the Styx. There are some good allusions here too, which may send some readers scurrying to look up the meaning of the titles. Another clever double use of the word Hell. This is fun. I can almost hear this chanted with swinging draughts in hand. Well written.
