It's an unusual topic, but it still makes sense in modern life. Not everyone is looking for a white knight, which is good, since there aren't many around.

I liked the unique take of the lady not giving the knight her ribbon - very clever. The nonet flowed nicely. The words didn't feel contrived. And you painted a picrure of a joust in just 9 short lines. I also liked the artwork. Well done.

Did someone call for a jousting knight on a snow-white steed? Here I am ready to slay the dragon for thee, fair young maiden. This is an excellent entry in the contest. According to my personal psychic advisor, who by the way, is the smartest chimp on earth, you will win and send me half the funny money. Thanks in advance.

Alas, no ribbons for thee. I have slain the dragon myself. As I was telling Gwendyline at the fayre, there are many knights, yet we lack steeds. Thanks for your review, j

A very well-written Nonet. Sometimes people want to rescue us when we don't need to be rescued. We need sometimes to make our own mistakes and rescue ourselves before we call on others.

Thanks for the insightful review Sandra. My mom taught me to be independent and I believe it has carried me through this life. I am back in America and as we say, some men are ''all hat and no cow''. They wear a big cowboy hat, but have no herd...boastful. Have a wonderful week end, j

This is an excellent poem for the nonet contest. Maybe, just missed the perfect triangle. The last word, with one syllable, has two letters. The only letters in the English alphabet that may meet that point are Y, T and I. Your poem, so saucy, begs for a response. Well done.

But time only births prose, and neither nonet nor rhyme. Colorful ribbons, the prize. They come with something desired. Marriage to the winner? Offered by her father, the Duke? The maiden promised, very early this morning, that prize to someone else. Perhaps the Knight's comely groom?

Ha ha I loved your review, but nothing as romantic as that. Just modern day men thinking they are helping this modern day woman with help, alas the maiden realizes that she can do a better job herself. and will keep her modest rewards (money) Cheers and thanks for your wonderful take on this poem. Cheers, j

-Very nice image and presentation.
-The syllable count is good, and
the use of rhyme is effective, as
well as the imagery, as in the first line.
-However, I don't think the
jousting knight on the
impressive white steed is
getting the ribbons back!
-Good luck in the contest.

This is a great nonet poem! I enjoyed your descriptions of the knight setting forth on the snow-white steed. I am very fond of all things medieval:-)

Thanks for the review. Just musing on these people that want to ''save'' me, when I realize it is much easier to do myself...and keep those ribbons. In a nutshell, am renovating my log cabin and the knights that have come to my aid caused me money and grief. So I will keep my ribbons and start up the royal chainsaw myself. ha ha. Cheers, j

You have done it perfectly, and even made it rhyme! And your chosen topic is appealing, I can imagine a sassy girl deciding not to bestow her favor on a smitten knight!
