Thanks, Kerry. Yeah, it's difficult, but it's common too. I've known MANY and haven't been that shy around a drink myself at times. LOL mike

You're right, Michael. It's not exactly "fiction" as far as the type of situation is concerned.
However, it can be considered as such because it isn't specific to anyone in particular, but something we all feel from time to time.

Wow, fantastic write, M. It's sad how true this is for so many people. You couldn't have found a better picture to use. There were a few good ones but this one gets my vote. Great piece. Have a good one.

This is so true. When you love a 'drunk' you'll never be able to win the competition with the bottle. It took me a lot of years to figure that out for myself.

I don't know if I "get it", but indifference is a sign of not caring enough to reason with. Drinking is a disease that is hard to cure. A.A. is there for those that wish to try, but it can also be a place to meet drinking buddies. This is a good entry for the 50 words contest.

Drunk or not, indifference is a deal breaker when it comes to a relationship. My mother was a heavy drinker. The thing was, when she started the day with the first drink, it would change her whole personality. She was impossible to live with. When my father thought about leaving my her, he was killed in a car accident. I relate to your short story. Best wishes.

This is an excellent fifty word story for the contest
Unfortunately, the fate of many who drink, some of whom
simply have an illness.
But it is the partner and/or children who also suffer.
