As I read this, I was reminded of the song Brandy where a barmaid loses her love to the sea. Some things can't be competed with. A soul that longs to travel is one of them. This is well-written.

This had an interesting, imaginative format with those episodes of reality mingled in with the visions of the lost lover, very good contrast between the loneliness you have to deal with now, done in a very here and now style, and those ethereal visions of the lost spirit. "Nailing drapery over her reality" was an interesting image, trying to turn your back on the pain. very original. estory

This is a sad but beautiful poem. The manner in which you describing the gradual losing of hope is well done. I especially like your line: "Nailing drapery over her reality". Losing someone is hard and sometimes the drapery just doesn't want to stay nailed down.

It seems her love has kept her from realizing he is dead. It took her too long to accept the facts but finally she returned to life.

Your title is the best hook and backs up the promise of some good reading. You could feel the despair dripping down. I'm not crazy about artwork accompanying poetry--too distracting. Your title and the body of the piece should be allowed front and center. You words are strong plus she looked like she was looking out the window for Fabio. I felt the the one line demarcations were redundant. Let the reader learn for themselves what's going on. Great subject matter. Write on.

Great job, Diana. The last stanza sums up the feeling of resigned desolation very well. So true the Captain chooses the sea over a woman every time.
