Heartrending and all-too-relatable--an oft-told tale of woe but rarely told so well--stunning rendering of fairy-tale gone awry. Love those gravid clouds!

Hah! Guess the muse is environmentally friendly and into recycling phrases... I did not recall using "gravid clouds" before... I would have passed a lie detector test if asked! Maybe if I did a "word search" (that is, if I KNEW how to do one)---I'd find it popping up like Chicken Pox on an unvaccinated child.... I never believed those fairy tales... I always thought Cinderella was much more happy among her "cinders"---Princes are so high maintenance! Glass slippers would pinch! ---Smiles. Thanks again. --Karenina

Nothing wrong with reusing stunning imagery--especially with years between--I cringe each time I write an erstwhile witty (turned overtired) catchphrase--esecially given that most of my readers are regulars!-- I feel obliged to repeat the lingo by way of backstory for readers who don't know about Chuck, Scott, etc.

An 'Awesome Multiple 5-7-5 Presentation', Karenina! Sweet, Jesus! This one's deeper than Grandpa's ole cistern well. Are you related to Edgar Allen Poe? Your writing is commendable, and I 'Salute' you for sharing. Best wishes and God bless. Respectfully, Bill.

I have always enjoyed Poe's work--but sadly I cannot claim any relation to him. Thanks for getting into this one...it does an author good to know now and then something they write moves a reader!

    Thanks,

Air Spirit posted a very moving poem about homeless veterans. I encourage you to read it. I am sure you could comment more meaningfully than most!

Nicely done, K! I enjoyed this not so fairytale ending. I like strong women, not the damsels in distress cliches of women. While I think she was hurt by this, she's stronger in the end. Congrats on your win!

Take care,
Russell

Thanks so much! I agree---it's a lesson for today, contrary to those old fairy tales where the damsel was always in distress and reliant upon the man to save her...

I was very gratified to win this contest, despite Michael Steinert's horribly rude two star rating and comment, which was rather distasteful and hurtful.

I guess winning was the best revenge to his crass behavior....

    Thank YOU!

I welll written poem that followed the format and used great imagery. The font made it hard to read but other than that perfect use of 575 in a unique way.

What a disheartening and unnecessarily mean comment. It is Karenina. I was pleased to win the contest as I'd never written this form before but hardly think it merited a TWO Michael. How sad that you'd project your opinion on to others who apparently disagreed by a wide margin.....

Note from the author" Michael Steinert had written a most inappropriate review, granting me two stars and telling me the other poems in the contest were more deserving than my own, to win. Upon being contacted by Administration he changed his review and star rating...I appreciate Tom's help in resolving this and thank Mr. Steinert for reconsidering his comments.

This is excellent and I wish you much luck in the contest with fine stacked 5-7-5. Romantic, but bittersweet, too. Fickleness in love brings down many people. Marilyn

Did you see Michael Steinhart's two star rating and rude comments? What is up his behind?!
reply by BeasPeas on 10-Jul-2018
I read them. Yes, rude. He is relative newcomer. He will learn not to do this, just as a female newcomer just did with one of my poems. I gave her a head's up by PM.
reply by the author on 10-Jul-2018
I PM'd this rude person as well as reported him. No need to make it personal and to actually LOBBY through his comments to say my poem was in no way worth "beating" the others. What is this, rugby? I'll block him if he gives me any more BS--that sort of thing is just uncalled for no matter who is doing it! (Thanks for letting me vent)

Kudos to you. Fanstorians are usually very nice to each other even though we may have differences. Yes, he was rude.

This is an Excellent stacked 5-7-5 poem... first of all, I have always been fascinated with the time period of knights, shining armor, kings & castles, princesses and faithful fairies... I thrived on this fantasy world --- even had past life regressions to find out (supposedly) that I lived in this era... coinky-dink? I think not, but that's just me... but the terse form of your poem, by limitation of the 5-7-5 form, requires you to use pithy, precise and polished poetical devices (alliteration, assonance, and consonance, adjectives and descriptive detail -- which you have aptly done.. "...Within the kingdom
were lasses full of envy.
Flirtation flourished..." and "...I rock his daughter,
sing lullabies of white knights...
curse my wedding ring..." the ending so apropos --- as there seems that there will always be room for 'knights in shining armor' dreams and fantastical flirtation with freedom of fancy -- even though we know in our heart of hearts - it is a myth... it is still so magical when we let ourselves believe... even if just for a moment... Excellence personified! :)

Thanks so much. After Michael Stein hart giving it 2 stars and proclaiming it unworthy of beating anything this helps raise my spirits.... I was delighted to take the win. It doesn't happen often and why others (him) would go out of their way to be rude is just mind numbing!--Thank YOU!--Karenina

Hi! I can not believe that Michael S. would have given you a 2 star --- what the heck? He is way out in left field -- or on drugs! ha! Anyway, it was an awesome poem... so glad you won!!! did you get notified of my poem Snow Maiden? I have had nothing but problems with this listing - it has been awful! and Tom, was not helpful, sorry to say... I ended up figuring out how to solve the problem myself! Anyway, congrats again - you are deserving in all ways and for always...

Excellent work. The poems theme is as relevant today as it was in that bygone period. Great pacing and sequencing. Last line is so awesome! Very nice job. Hugh

What a unique contest entry. And yes, girls still believe in the fairy tales of long ago. You have followed the contest rules, complete with
the 5-7-5 syllable count and managed to tell a story of jilted love. Excellent poem. Best of luck in the contest. Linda

Dear Mystery Writer,

Hmmm... This is a more sad and pensive write than others I have read in this contest. Unfortunately, I do think it shares the hopes and dreams and crushed hearts that so many young women are looking for and end up with. (Did that make sense?) *smile*

Great entry. Good luck!

A very well-written stacked 5-7-5 poem. So many knights and men of today seem to be the hero young girls dream about all their lives just to find they have only feet of clay and a wandering eye.

I am always shocked someone would pay to join a poet site where we are all presumably seeking to share our work and helpfully critique and praise where applicable and then lobby to slam someone's work....I hate it when I see it done to others and I hate it equally when it is done intentionally to me, to influence contest voting.... (I'm venting and t hanks for letting me)---Karenina
