lol. A fantastic flash fiction, Bill. All that work and you just wanted to feed the birds.
Great humor in this silly little story. Good luck! ~Kerry

You stopped too soon, if you had kept it up, you could have had a menagerie and maybe later a zoo. to catch a rat you need cheese. To catch a cat, you need a rat, to catch a dog, you need a cat, and so on and so forth. Pay attention Bill.

Good grief! The mouse or rat could have at least shown up! The list of animals is very enlightening and full or surprises. Oh, no! But then the author decided NOT to feed the birds! Well, I guess it did solve the problem. This entry is worth a five star rating for the structure and flow of the story. It humorously captured a problem that many bird lovers face.

I know what you mean. We used to keep birdseed in the garage until the same thing happened. Now we keep it in the house, but mice come in after it. They live under the dishwasher, and we can see them running back and forth to the dog's food dish. We gave up. Let them have it and feed their young. Mice are harmless, just make a mess. :)

My wife can't live in a house with mice in it -- so I never tell her about them.

LOL! Good plan! We used to catch them in traps but got too tiring. Only see about one per day. Not so bad. :)

hahahaha! The question is -- did you ever feed BIRDS to begin with?

What a fun poem, Bill, and a super entry into this 100-word contest. These are not easy, yet you made this look simple - like child's play, actually.

Thanks for sharing and much good luck to you!
