To learn what an interesting person you are surprised me. Anyone who has an inclination toward the sciences is considered, in my book, intelligent. Many times fact-based knowledge can do a lot to help when used by the right people.

Thanks, Phillip. I also have an inclination toward literature and poetry, and languages - but science pays the bills, lol. I do agree with your final comment! So true.

I also love the creative aspects of the arts. Combined with science life is interesting.

Hi Carol, great to see your answers to Robyn's quiz. I liked all your answers, but nothing to be ashamed of falling off a horse. I would never show my face in public if that was the case. I used to compete in dressage, and I've fallen of more times than anybody would care for. It happens to all of us when we ride a lot. It's great to get to know you a bit more. All the best. Ulla:)))

Oh you used to compete in dressage! So you are a good rider, English style. I ride western myself, just for fun mainly. I do want to do some pack trips on horseback (or mules) sometime soon - the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana, just east of Glacier Park is what I have in mind. Grizzly country! Which is why I want to do a guided trip!

Wow, that sounds absolutely great and beautiful, and good fun as well. I wish I could join you!

Naw it's too late now. Once in awhile I have nightmares that I've decided to go back, lol. At this point I'm planning my retirement in a few years and I definitely won't need it then!

I've been on the fence about seeing "The Shape of Water" - your endorsement tips the scale. I'm not surprised that you were ABD - it speaks to your intellect and your free spirit (one of my favorite lines from "The Big Chill" was "I'm not into that whole 'completion' thing"). Nice getting to know you a little bit better.

Well I hope you do end up liking the Shape of Water. The fantasy aspect of it was what bugged my husband, and I know that may not appeal to everyone. I love that line from the Big Chill - I do like to complete things generally, but I'm also willing to back down from something if it's not right. That may have saved my life when I was rock climbing.! Lol.

I don't understand this Quiz. I've read others and it seems odd to rate someone based on their answers but I guess that's the idea? If so, then you answered well. I do love Hemingway's quote though. Isn't that the truth!

I know it is hard to rate these. But I generally give people five stars, unless something is really off. That quote sure is the truth for Hemingway!

You don't want to worry about falling off that horse. They say you haven't learnt to ride until you fall off... and get back on again and since no one found out you must have done. It reminded me of the time when mounting a 16 hands high horse I overestimated the push required from the right leg and sailed clean over him to land in the straw on the other side.
The most galling thing was the look in that horse's eye as he regarded me lying in the straw.
This is a worthy entry in this multi-author book.

I did get right back on and made her go past the section where she was spooking. Apparently she found a barrel tipped on it's side to be suddenly quite terrifying. In her defense, it was dusk and the light was changing. She's a blue eyed horse and some people say their vision is poor.
That is so funny about how the horse looked at you - what the hell are you up to???! Ha ha!

Welcome back! I'm sorry part of your time away was spent being bucked off your horse. Thank goodness, it sounds like only your pride was injured! Thanks for your candid answers to the probing questions--they let us get to know you better. Smiles- Joan

Lol, yes my pride was a bit injured. I kind of fell off sideways instead of being bucked off. Lacey starts to run in really tight circles when she's being naughty, I am working on making her not do that!

Better to slide off than be bucked--I hope Lacey responds well to the extra training! Smiles- Joan

Me too! She is a headstrong girl and I am not the world's best rider, but we're working on it!
Comment from Gloria ....
Love both your movie selections, Carol. And how awful to have fallen off your horse. Yikes, I hope you're okay. I guess you must be you're over here in the quiz section.
lol, I get a real charge out of your "gossip" answer.
Most entertaining read and good to see you.

Hi Gloria, thanks I am fine after my mishap - was kind of sore for a few days afterwards but nothing that Advil wouldn't solve, lol.

I wonder why they called in The Road Warrior in the States, instead of Mad Max? A PC thing? Seems unlikely in the 70s. Anyway, yes - good movie.
Speaking of dog movies, and the 70s, if you get the chance, check out Red Dog some time. It stars another iconic aussie dog - the kelpie. It's a comedy about life in a very different time, and a bit of a tear-jerker. It's based on a true story.
I enjoyed finding out a little more about Carol today - thanks for sharing :)

I think Mad Max was the first one in the series, and wasn't known as well in the States as Road Warrior. I saw all of them, numerous times.
I should check out that Red Dog movie sometime - I often avoid sad movies about animals, but have probably missed some really good ones because of that. There's a new movie called The Rider about a former rodeo rider in South Dakota, where the horse dies in the end. I think I have to see it, in spite of the sad part about the horse.
