I think this is a good entry for the 'Remembrance' writing prompt.
Your verse tells the story of visiting your father's gravesite.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

I like this poem, honoring the father. Your words painted pictures for me, I could almost see what you were describing. Unfortunately, the poem felt a little clunky at times. Otherwise, well done.

What a moving and touching poem written about the visit to see your dad in the cemetery. Your description of the road, the birds and the rutted road, the scenery along the way is so vivid I can see the pictures in my mind when I read your words. I also feel the tender longing and melancholy in your words and in the pictures they paint. I understand how it's sometimes easier to talk to your dad in spirit than it ever was in life but the important thing is that you said these things and I know he will hear them.. one of my favorite lines is "...The slightly rutted road winds out,
the duck pond's on the right.
Darkness falls, we leave this place,
to the spirits in the night.". This is a very memorable piece thank you for sharing..

Well done and right on topic. I liked the poetry of course but the story really made it. Making a family outing of visiting your Dad's grave very good, and loved the descriptive narrative.

I love this poem. I almost feel like you are talking about my grandfather. This poem evoked a lot of emotion, and had excellent imagery. Thanks for sharing!

A very well-written poem about a beautiful place where your father rest at his final resting place. Every time you visit the memories of his life become alive again.

An excellent work, and an excellent study in descriptive language and a great effort and entry in this contest. Yes, cemeteries can be forbidding, foreboding places and the greyness of the stones adds to the aura, although they can also be attractively packaged, well done, Blessngs, Roy

Thanks for reading. When I was little I used to be scared of cemeteries, now I understand that there is nothing to fear. I go because I feel closer to my dad and I welcome that feeling. I appreciate you taking time to review.

This was a lovely, well penned poem portraying reminiscence, Anonymous Poet.
I just lost my dad to Alzheimer's disease on May 31.
He was buried on June 1st.
This will be the first Father's Day spent without my dad.
I can certainly relate to the feelings you've expressed so emotionally here.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad has been gone from my life for 45 years, but I still remember everything about him. Time makes things easier to bear but you never stop missing them. Thanks for reading.

It was my pleasure.
Good luck... :)

Great writing, the imagery given to the reader is exquisite. The emotion and stillness I felt was peaceful but sorrowful. The occasional rhyme add even more emotion.
