Going from critters to cars. I don't know much about roadrunners or makes of cars. My brothers were keen on cars, and they would have loved this one. One of their favorite expressions was "peel out." This shows how influential the roadrunner must be, to have a car named after it. judi

Now this is a real honest road runner. There ain't no coyote ever created that will ever threaten to catch this baby. The best that any coyote can ever hope tp do is to choke on the exhaust left behind this fast moving mother.

I see in the Acme catalog that they have a new refrigerator ski machine that will make roadrunner hunting less of a near-death experience.
Comment from Gloria ....
aha, another Pranka, and what a beauty it is. I've never seen a car that colour so it appears I've missed out on some orange delights.
Oh burns rubber in every gear, well then it's definitely a four in the floor.
Tons of fun, with this terrific pranka.

Reading this piece reminded me of conversations of a similar nature at the tea table between my two sons and their father. Complete jargon and totally unintelligible to me, much to their smug delight. I turned the tables on them one day when my friends and I were having afternoon tea out under the plum tree and we launched into a discussion about "secret women's business". They all vanished within a half a minute and I was the smug one that day. Nice car in the Artwork. "Roadrunner"?? naturally. 1969 was the year my elder son was born. Not keen on the color though.
Now a nice blue or green?!! This color would be suitable for the terrain, I guess. Nice one Bill cheers Cass

This was the most popular color for this model in 69.

Lol. Thanks for the glossary but even with the English translation it's lost on me who doesn't know a thing about cars. So that's what the car version of the Road Runner looks like. That looks like muscle car. I would have imagined a smart car with big wheels.

My brother-in-law owned one of these. Truly, rubber in all four gears.

Good read, educational, interesting, good photography, easy to read, image and post blends in, well presented, has a lot of meaning, good choice of subject...a fast car.
Good Luck!

Hi Bill, a very good pranka and thanks for the notes. I knew what 'burn rubber' means but the rest was alien to me. Now when I read it again it all made sense. All the best.Ulla:))

Hi, Bill,
My brother had a '69 Roadrunner. His was candy-apple blue, with a black vinyl top. I loved to hear that awesome horn. When his son turned sixteen, he found another one and they rebuilt it together. That same car will be rebuilt with my great-nephew next year.
Thanks for the memories,
~patty~
