Oh arn't you the clever one.
A cracking last line to this poem that really lends enormous gravitas to the whole piece.
I can see why this won the competition, Twosocks
Well done :)

Linda... I just saw this and realized it has the same title as a poem I wrote recently. I am sorry I inadvertently chose the same title, but it was purely an accident. I hope you didn't think I was attempting to copy you. I love your poem. It has sort of a fifties feel to it, that brings back so many special memories. I'm sure your readers all enjoyed this one very much. It was a poem of the month selection too, which shows it was especially popular. Congratulations! (I was looking for something to review from you, since it seems like it has been a long while since I read one of your poems)
I hope you are doing well. Keep writing. MM (BTW, I changed my title after I realized we had chosen the same one.)

I can so relate to your words here. You showcased the message I've had in my heart for years. From the first love experience, to the one that got away, you said it beautifully. True love never washes away.

Wow - how did I miss this? Not only is it a genre I love, it's so exquisitely written, Linda - flawless word choices and metaphor. True love IS EXACTLY as you describe, even when it is still being experienced. Congratulations on a deserved POM nomination, my friend!

You have captured a universal experience in just a few lines. Sometimes I think that life is just a compilation of memories. We can't wait for some super adventure or event, and then it passes so quickly. So what do we have left? Only memories for us alone to remember. Great work. Thank you, Rona

An emotive piece,
Well written, and a true depiction of love lost, love lived, and reminiscence.
These memories become a companion ray of hope and a feeling of being worthy.
All these fit together to form a powerful poem.
Well done

Especially that first real love when you are growing up. The memory really does hang on until the lights go out. Selected as a contestant for poem of the month-I won't argue with that.

Linda: WOW!! I am truly impressed. This is a powerful little poem filled with emotion not really stated but implied and it makes the reader stop reading to let it all sink in. You've done it good with this one, my friend. I guess we do get better with age . . . LOLOLOLOLOLOL. And, congratulations on winning the Poem of the Month! You have become poetic royality! from the Dos.
Linda: this is a fabulous poem! In just a few words you have made it thick with feelings . . . it made me stop and really think about what you were saying. It definitely gave me something to think about. WOW!! is my rating to you! Dos
