The remnants left of busy, and skillful hands making that beautiful quilt. Only the initials left of who it could have been. You've wrote this in a manner that causes the reader to wonder who this was and all of the activities that occurred. I applaud you for setting the stage with your writing to ponder that. I like this well written poem. Well done!

Dear Jeffrey, Thank you for your review and the five stars. The poem is from another much shorter piece written years ago
after a visit to a lovely old house set up to look as it did in its Heyday. The flowers in the garden had been picked and placed in vases around the house, so when I got home I did the same. I put an arrangement of roses and daisies on the hall table and
some lavender and stocks in the sitting room. Then I took my forsaken patchwork project out of the laundry cupboard and started sewing again. It touch a couple of years to complete but I did it. Persistance and perseverance paid off. cheers Cass

Dear meeshu, Thank you for your review and the five stars. You might well have the same quilt as in the artwork, patterns were handed down from generation to generation . Most of my quilts are what I call "Topsy" quilts . Because like Topsy from "Uncle Tom's Cabin" they "just growed" I cannot stay within the instructions, but am obliged to do things differently. Somehow they always turn out alright . Cheers Cass

Hi there

A very touching poem which made me remember my grand mother. Indeed, memories are immortal in this ruthless world and priceless too!

This speaks about her initials are all that is left to mark her passing and about thoughts on an antique quilt and the threaded needle in the room in the Mount Lofty; well said, well done. Keep Writing -- DR ALCREATOR

Ah, those old handmade quilts are just so beautiful - so much time and love went into them. I love even storebought quilts, but the old ones that someone's grandma made are extra special. Beautiful poem, Cass. Reminds me that a new quilt is on the way to us, ordered on Amazon - lol. Someday I'd love to make one myself, but that day will have to wait til I'm retired!

Dear Carol, Thank you for your review and the five stars. No No NO NOOOOH! You can start a quilt at any time in your life. Just a little one for a cot or even a doll's bed. The first patchwork I ever did was a cushion cover. The cat slept on it, my sons nicked it for their cubby house and I tipped a cup of tea over it more than once. But it survived for decades, and finally went to that ragbag in the sky when we moved. I love patchwork. I had a quilt on the go at one time, and forgot to pack it when we went on holiday . I went into withdrawal (TRUE) and fled to the nearest Op shop where I purchased a couple of men's shirts to cut up for patches. The ladies in the shop were most sympathetic and "Quite understood" my predicament.
So enjoy your new quilt and perhaps it might inspire you to try a small one for yourself. cheers Cass

You did yours by hand? I don't have a sewing machine, at least not yet.
