This is a very well written poem about the farmer and his seeds. I never understood much about farm work or farmers until I started working for Farmer Administration. I closed their loans and got to see the farmers first hand so tired from lack of sleep and how hard they worked. I got a new appreciate for them. Great words and imagery! love, Teri

Dear Teri, Thank you for your comments and review. Whenever I say the prayer before meals,...Thank you for that which we are receiving from the Lord's bounty, I also add in my mind "and from our fellowmen" (and it inspired me to write this poem about farmers. Some people even have to be slaves in order to plant and grow the food they bring to our country and the world.) Love, Dove

Farmers are unsung heroes aren't they? We think no thing of "running to the store" for veggies or milk or whatever...but I swear if I asked my grandkids where milk came from (though they know the answer) their first response would be "The Grocery Store!" Farming is a way of life, a calling...more than a career choice. I love your poem for it's sweet view of seeds taking route...and even more for tipping your poet hat to those who do the farming for most of us!

Dear Karenina, Thank you for your comments and review. As I get older, I think more of where we get our dairy and poultry products, not just "from the grocery store." I used to think when I was a child that they magically ended up there, never dreaming of all the dedication and hard work that goes behind it. Dove

I hear you and when a child thought the same thing...why, food comes from the Market! I try, now to instill in my grandkids the work before and beyond the Market that farmers perform....

This is a dedication to farmers and all gardeners for their hard work in the fields back-breaking toil in planting vegetables for our consumption. Loved the sentiments behind these beautifully rhymes words, love Dolly x

nicely written, Dove. you capture the concerns of farmers and growers in general in a neat package of verse. as any farmer will tell you; 'it is half art, half science and half luck'........a joke........meeshu
