Golly Bill, At first I thought you'd found a photo of an old boyfriend of mine. He was a worm of the most slithery kind. The picture is strangely humanesque with "eyes" and "mouth" and horns. Eeugh! Poe was right. In the end the worms triumph.
Not me though I'm going to the flames, and be reduced to a handful of ashes. Cheers Cass

Lol! Yikes. That kind of worm would really fit into a horror story or apocalyptic story. Good job with the tanka though I'm not sure I read about him other than when Job said, "And though worms destroy this body..."

Out?out are the lights?out all!
And, over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, ?Man,?
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.
Edgar Allen Poe

Ah, thanks for that. Maybe you should add it to your notes for those of us who didn't know the poem?

That creature looks horrible, as if it came right out of a sci fi film. They look like they could take over! How can I relax when that thing is facing me. It will probably sound just like Vincent Price, oh, so calm but oh, so deadly. Very creative presentation. A touch of Dean Kuch in this. juci

Thanks, Judi. Hope Dean comes bavk some day.

You're welcome. I suspect Dean is still lurking around somewhere. Maybe he's found The Worm. judi
-
He's editing a few horror anthologies I believe.
-
He's a proven talent and was probably wasting time on FS. judi

Eeeeek! Wherever did you find that picture? I hope you didn't snap a photo of it on your bed. I bow to this worm of greatness. Stay off my bed! I mean that, you ugly crawly thing!

This is a close up of a sea worm.

It turns out that the banjo became popular in England in 1846, so I called it a new instrument. I could have just used the lute, I guess. :)

How clever to take Poe's words and make them part of Worm World. A fitting ending for this little world of poems.
I've enjoyed the worm poems. You always have me guessing what you could possibly come up with next. I'm always delighted.

Bill,
I don't know what that creature is -- though I hope, hope, hope it comes from someone's fantasies. *smile* It sure looks real. Ugh. I am not going to say thanks for sharing -- sorry!

Conquerer Worm is the title of a Poe poem, which basically states that for all our achievements, he has the final conquest.

Ah...Okay, thanks, Bill.
