This is a fantastic poem, congratulations on your very deserved win. It moved me deeply. Your refrain "But I have felt a robin's song" works like magic. There is more beauty in your red robin with her mouth open, than in all kings and jewels in the world. There is much wisdom and beauty in nature.
I've never scaled a mountain high,
or shot a pheasant in the sky.
I've never raced a distance strong,
but I have felt the robin's song.
Your poem moved me to tears. Thank you for this incredible work.

Hello ytbard,
Oh my goodness! The highest compliment anyone can bestow upon the work of a writer is that the writing moved them. Thank you ever so much for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review. I am so thankful that you appreciate my work...
Always,

There is great wisdom about a robin, chirping away. If more people saw beauty in nature, perhaps the world would be a better place. I am working on my crown of heroic sonnets entry, and I have a few verses dedicated to that. Your poem touched my very core.

Thank you so much.
It is a rather simple offering, but it is heartfelt and is more autobiographical than anything else...Please contact m when you post your heroic sonnets; I would so love to read them...

It's just, some poems move us more than others, and yours was what most of my crown of sonnets is about. It was exhilarating.

When I am not writing, I am outside. Gardening is my passion outside of writing. I have learned so much about life by digging into the earth...and feeling the robin's song...

Now, that's really nice. It's like the robin's song is something you have in your heart that keeps you going in all circumstances, isn't it? You used a very nice picture that enhances the sense of the piece.

Not sure if I ever heard a robin sing. Probably because I never listen or so seem the gist of your poem. Such worthless things to seek, but what is important? Maybe what you carefully listen for?

This kyrielle, To Feel the Robin's Song, has the right format and definitely promotes the moments spent listening to the sweet, pure, and calming sound of the robin. Nice.

The rules seemed to be in order with this write however, Robins are not song birds. They hadly make a sound. Very good hearing and that's they way they find worms, Best to you in the contest.

Hi Ben
Both American and European robins are classified as songbirds.
I just attempted to post two videos of them singing their songs but am unable to do so.
Thank you for your review and thoughts!

Well I am 80 years old and have never heard one sing. I see them all the time. Maybe I need to listen more closely. LOL. .

And for sure the robin does have a beautiful song. Imagine you're sitting on the porch sipping on a nice cold tall glass of iced tea, sweet iced tea and the robin begins to sing such his beautiful song. Now a picture is painted in my mind. But then I think it was Chuck Berry who came up with the song Rockin Robin. Lol Anyway I thank you for sharing and I appreciate the words and the picture.

This is a lovely commentary on holding onto what is of real value in life. It's about what we have done, experienced and achieved that shapes us. Not what we haven't done. Appreciation and positive attitude can keep us from being disappointed and bitter. Thank you for sharing and best wishes in the contest.

This was certainly exceptional and you always made it back to the birds. Then for the final stanza focused on the negative details of spring, knowing it was back. Brilliant
