Oh, Jeffery, this is just AWFUL!! I cannot imagine how 'trapped' you must feel to be practically 'leashed' to your house...I am so very sorry! Perhaps pour yourself into finishing your book and you'll have a wonderful time of dealing with the whole publishing process! :) I am glad you are posting again....although I didn't receive notice of this (????) -- thank you for sharing! :) Yvette ;)

A very well written story, it is amazing how some people or the powers that be go out of their way ton inconvenience people, and yes some times it is a lot better to keep your foot firmly on the ground, I like the photo's like most licence ones you look like a "crim" Ha! Ha! very well done****kahpot

Oh dear this is a disaster, as they say in England, the law is an ass! I had no idea you had to go back to learner status again in Australia! What a nuisance, I hope you pass your test (again) soon, love Dolly x

Actually Dolly, we are nearing the end of a final review run on my autobiography. Subsequently, to the current story chapter, I decided to give up any attempt to get back to driving and it has now been18 months since I quit driving. I don't miss it as Road rage has got worse and the fuel prices went up about the time I stopped. Thanks for coming by. Check your Messages for more info.

That would not be a good situation to be in. Driving provides a freedom most other things can not. And, to have to give that up for any reason would be a major bother indeed. Hopefully, as you said, you will need to revise this sometime into saying you are driving again.

Well mate as Jay suggested no more Addendums and I have decided not to drive anymore. A whole lot of issues I might explain somewhere else. Thanks for the lovely review.

OH no!!!! This is awful. And I remember my mother tried to drive up until she was in her late seventies and kept getting lost and they finally told my brother to take her keys. She was so mad. Just devastated. It's like cutting off an arm not to have that freedom. I wish I could drive you or go with. AND I have cataracts too, and am supposed to have surgery this summer, tho I sure do NOT want to. It's horrifying to me. Hang in there my friend. I send best wishes for all to go well from here on. hugs to you and your lovely wife!! Susan/Realist

Thanks Susan. I have now decided not to proceed to try and get my license back. As I get older and older there would be more driving tests and my health is not improving. I am liking getting around in the wheelchair taxi I mentioned a chapter or two back, with Louise. Thanks for the lovely review. Hope this puts us over the line for the next award. Sorry the Rewards have run out.

How I wish I lived nearer; I'd have been your licenced driver, and with pleasure.

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us here. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about you and your dear one in your story.

You may have chosen to write this like you did; but just in case it's Evil Eddie, I simply thought I'll point it out to you below
~ I had an eye test at the Ophthalmologist's rooms. He stated as I have known for years, my eyesight is bordering on ineligible to drive. He even said:(you need a line break here)
"Down the road, you need to have a cataract operation but not for some time."(you need a line break here)
Silly me goes to the Optician (where you get new spectacles made if needed) and she says the same thing as the eye specialist. She also suggests next time I see the Ophthalmologist I mention cataracts again.

Thanks, mate I wonder if it was evil eddy as I do normally do line break with spoken dialogue. I will check it out thanks. Appreciate the great review.

This is such a sad state of affairs, Jeffery. It is true, some people get very nervous in test situations. It seems harsh to have to go through all of this in senior years. I am sure you are not alone. I hope you live in an area that has a good bus service. When I was young I couldn't wait to leave home--I thought everything would get easier. Over the years I've come to realise that things go full circle as people age. With a worldwide ageing western population, you are bound to get a sure blog following. Maybe you could link up with Grey Power. I hope you pass your next test with flying colours.

Thanks, mate appreciate the lovely review. Now to find a publisher to my liking. I have had some suggestions but I need an Aussie type. I nearly went for Balboa but when I found out some of the creepies in that I changed my mind.

Hi Sankey, I'm so sorry about all the bother you've had. Just imagine that after fifty years they suddenly find out that your eyes are not good enough for driving. I can imagine it's a huge inconvenience. I liked what I read. Ulla:))

occasionally get our brain in gear before we open our mouths (LOL I often tell my first graders to 'engage brain',)

My husband has sleep apnea and here it has nothing to do with his driving ability. OH well, Thank you for sharing. Here in the US big brother is always sticking their nose in our business.

Thanks Sis. Much appreciate the great review. Glad you relate in some measure and good about telling the kids to engage brain. Now to the publisher!

Well this story is completely mind-blowing... it is a cautionary tale that might make others weary of going to an eye doctor... I'm so sorry for this situation and can't wait until you are free again... good luck, well wishes to you both
