This sounds like some of my relatives. I can definitely relate to "Overdo Di" who can't help going all-out for those special occasions. She must be loved by her relatives, but they probably keep telling her to stop making such a fuss. I definitely admired this kind of spirit. It's great when people are engaged and making plans even in old age. Excellent rhyme in this, and you give us a clear of all the pie-baking, decorating, Christmas stockings for pets, etc. Really wonderful. Hope this does well in the contest. judi

You're very welcome. This definitely is not me. I admire someone who's that energetic in doing things around the home. judi

A poem full of amusing ideas and clever rhyming patterns. I really like the way you try to bring a surprise in each stanza. A perfect illustration too.
With best wishes,

Great piece of work. It reminds me a little of myself. It's difficult to change but the good news is that after Xmas, thanksgiving, any celebration at all....... there's no need to cook for a week or so! PM

Hello, :)
It sounds like a dream come true. I'm so sick of being all alone on the holidays. I miss my family where love was -- they are all dead now. I'm the last and I miss the turkey dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas was something else.
TC
Good luck in the contest.

Hello Rasmine,
Your review made me sad. Perhaps you need to start new traditions with friends - and share with them your family's recipes and special dishes!
Thank you for your thoughtful review!

Write a poem about a flaw you see in yourself? Absurd, I have no flaws. Nor does this as a response to that particular prompt. Looks excellent to me.

This is a great post that answers to the writing prompt. I relate to it in spirit
although I have to forego most holiday things these days. 'It must be in MY DNA'
has always been my explanation as well. Thanks for sharing.

Oh no, it would seem my "ex" has stumbled upon FanStory! Well, as long as you are happy to be left alone to indulge in this hyperactivity, and don't seek to force everyone around you to keep pace, I suppose it's relatively harmless ;-)
This is a fun poem, and I like the way you've indicated the question/answer approach, with this interrogator's lines in bold.
A terrific job, best of luck with it in the contest.

Thanks Craig!
Old habits die hard.
I've even toned everything down a notch or two...
My mother was worse!
Thank you for a very complimentary and delightful review!

Hello Mystery Poet,
I enjoyed this contest entry. I have to say oopsies about revealing your nickname since this is a blind contest. I'm exhausted just reading about all the work you do to get ready for Christmas and guests. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks, Joy, for your kind review.
One would have to search pretty deeply to recognize me by that name. I have never used it on this site ...ever!
Take Care!
-
I changed it... :) just to be safe...
Will change it back when contest is over.
These blind competitions are going to cause me to eat all those pies I bake!
-
You certainly made me hungry :)

What a great character flaw! The perfect hostess, and the perfect invitee. I like your style - perhaps because it reminds me of my favorite aunt. She made every Christmas and any party wonderful - she saw to every detail.
I applaud you,

Hello Patty,
Thank you ever so much for your complimentary and thoughtful review! I didn't mention that "guest" who, after walking through our gardens, and "admiring" my hard work, was overheard to say, "She tries to hard..." That one made me sad...
Thank you again!
