This is really tragic. A mystery surrounds this - you wonder, where is child from, what happened to him? There are a lot of children from the third world countries - victims of malnutrition and always hungry, from distressed poor families. They are doomed. You brought this out masterful.

A very talented work, with great descriptive imagery and visuals. It affects a reader and will stay with him for a long time.

This was a very sad poem. The image you painted was one that was haunting and filled with a sad reality. The thought of a child having to beg and being invisible to the world, just breaks my heart. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

This is such a cat sad comment on live in a war zone. Many children do suffer during those times of war. I wish you the very best in the contest, and I enjoyed this, even though it was a hard thing to listen to. Patricia.

This was incredibly hard to read - in a good way. It's easy to forget how hard life can be when we don't see it up close. This poem forces the hardship into focus, and that's why it's a difficult read. It's full of despair and physical and emotional hardship. Poetry is good at capturing and expanding a moment that weighs heavily on the viewer. This poem does that well.

You painted a grim picture that is happening every day across the world. Very graphic, very true. Like isn't what I would say but my prayers and thoughts go out to these waifs that God will take home. No more hunger or fear. Thanks Tom.

This is so deserving of six stars, but I'm still out. I really admire how you phrase your words so rhythmically. To me, so much of your poetry could be put to music.

Excellent poems about the horrors of war and the imaginable loss of lives, specially children. Simple presentation but outstanding imagery.

Well done, Easy.

This reminds me of the Holocaust victims during WW2. your poem should open the eyes to the need for mercy to ward others. I see nothing wrong with this write.

You have composed a haunting portrait of war and its innocent victims, of cold and practiced indifference, of the sting of poverty and hunger, of the ravages of disease and ultimate starvation. With deep feeling you have written these words of sadness, as you give witness to the suffering of children. Too, too many. Beautifully written.

What a striking write of a child(dren) forced to the
streets due to war. No family, no place to call his
own, no one left to care for him. S/he just waits
til death takes her/him, then life goes on for those
who pass without a care--except maybe to toss a coin.
Those war ravaged nations see this everyday. Your poem
was filled with great, though very sad, imagery, ee. The
words aptly described the horror, Jan
