I really enjoyed reading about your personal choices about dress and makeup. You really showed me that medical professionals like you, have to give up some things for the health and preferences of the patients. Thank you! So many people complain about their rights being impinged just about wearing masks when you all gave up so much for your patients!

Realistically I never thought that it was giving up things but thank you so much Helene for pointing that out. I am so glad that you are enjoying it. Hugs!

I have been lucky enough to have spent very little of my life in hospitals so far and yet, speaking as a red-bloodied male I can remember finding the sight of a pretty nurse in those lovey uniforms a real aid to recovery. Nowadays the profession is decked out in a kind of shapeless boiler suit, resembling the garb of the proles in Orwell's 1984. Are they trying to frighten us into getting well so we will give up those badly needed beds more quickly to those who are too sick to bother about pretty nurses in fetching starched uniforms?

I continue to enjoy the chapters of this autobiography under an assumed name..

Gosh darn, now how did you figure out the secret behind health care lol. I fully agree, now it seems to be more about the $$$ rather than the person. I will admit that I have fond memories of the old days when nurses were nurses and were identified as such. Now that is not to say that some nurses were not smarter than the doctors, because they were; after the years of experience. Thanks you so much.

And you gave me a thumb too. I certainly didn't expect that.

I never considered the rules for nurses makeup and hair, etc. It makes sense, of course. I would prefer being required to have a natural look, since I never wear makeup or cologne, and it would be easier to get ready for work.

I agree that white is not a good choice for a nurse's uniform... must stain something awful. Black sounds good to me. Slimming, too. :)

I guess I was lucky in that I didn't wear foundation, mascara or rouge but I did like a hint of eye shadow and a touch of lip gloss and I still don't. I do enjoy my little spritz of perfume but not when I am going to a social event like a party because I never know who it will affect. The only thing that was depressing about the black was both nurses and families thought it was inappropriate for pediatrics and hospice patients.

This speaks about the old days in school how enjoyably passed and lessons learnt, activities for and at the school; well said, well done. Keep writing. DR ALCREATOR
