A lot of info in this chapter, firstly with one of the Comanche legends, and then, I can't help but feel sorry for Running Horse, so punished for picking Sarah. Quite a different genre from others of yours I have read.
Well done,
cheers.

This was a step out for me. I enjoyed writing it.

There is a lot in this chapter. I haven't read previous ones, yet. I may need to go back and see what Sarah's backstory is, as well as the identity of the narrator. I enjoyed the buffalo story and it reads like similar myth stories.

The early chapters set the background for those that follow.

Thomas,
A terrible life for so many people. I like the way that you show how it can be for a variety of folks, not just one outlook - though I'm not quite sure how all these viewpoints will play out. I've never seen a book handled like this before. Quite innovative! Thanks!

Thanks. I'm stretching my limits.

I wanted to write a character study instead of a soot-em-up.

This is sad, I feel so sad for Running Horse to suffer that much in the name of love. I don't understand the logic of this tribe. But anyway that's their culture dependent fully on survival, who's the fittest and who's the weakest. Thanks for sharing this excellent piece anyway.

They placed a lot of emphasis on bravery. Their warriors were called Braves.

Good morning, Thomas: I see that this story is still continuing. It's too bad for Running Horse and "Ouch" to him stabbing the traveler in the chest and the traveler surviving this stabbing, with the tip of the knife still in his chest bone. Oh my, this gives me the creeps.
This story is continuing to be very interesting. I enjoyed how you started this chapter off with Ten Bears telling a, Indian story. This made it even more credible. You are still writing the best stories, Tom. I will miss reading them. I did receive the list of books and will be looking to purchase first the Tom and Carol book. Thank you...

How nice of you, Thomas but I think my husband would have a heart attack if I gave out my address. I will see if I could give you my job address. Perhaps my employer would not mind if I receive a piece of mail her as some of my coworkers have. Anyway, I would need to pay for it so how would we do this?

So then how long is this book? Or is it a work in progress? I like Indian stories and have a close friend authentic Indian, I live among many reservations and bands, casinos and etc. It is a constant theme in life here that I tend to take for granted.
I like your story very much, it reminds me of stories by McMurtry.

It has quite a way to go. This is just the beginning. My wife is one-quarter Indian.

This was a story within a story within a story that really unwound nicely. The buffalo tale, the remembrance of Sarah, and then Running Horse's last hurrah. Reminds me a bit of some Zane Grey I read as a kid.

A very good chapter, Thomas. The stories of coyote are legion, it seems, among the Native peoples. Makes me wonder why this creature, in particular, had gained such status... or ignomy, depending on your viewpoint. There was a lot of good historical information here. It's refreshing that you portray that Native peoples in a more realistic, natural light than some tend to do.
I enjoyed reading this chapter.

The coyote was thought of as a crafty creature. I had a seminary professor who was expounding on the verse, "I would have you gentile as doves and wise as serpents." He said a good ratio would be three serpents for each dove.

Interesting quote that I had not read before. I like it! Doves are so special and sweet. The sound of their cooing is so restful to me.
