This was an interesting read and thought provoking. It was well written and well done. I can relate to the points about candidates to vote for. It really was less than slim pickings. Well done.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Maybe next time we will have better choices If there is a next time with Trump insulting North Korea.

Well done. I would tend to agree with the content (some, not all of it) but my opinion doesn't matter because I am not American.

I do, however, have one small suggestion - this sentence needs to be re-worded: "Now, look at..." Instead, try, "Now look at the trouble our government is in, would you?" (or something similar; for grammar)

Bang-on ending too, if you ask me. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for reading and the grammar tips. I threw this together at the last minute and probably got a bit sloppy.

You are not alone. I know many people who did not vote because they did like either candidate. Excellent essay that reflects the current state of our country. Best wishes for the contest.

This should get some attention in the voting booth - the one in FS, not the one on election day. I am not entirely in agreement with you, but I admire a person (reviewed in the blind) who takes a stand, draws a line, and means business.

As an American, we all have freedom of speech and your story is an exercise in that right. I found your arguments convincing and well-reasoned. It's just a little difficult to predict what a Hilarie administration would be like, but I think you're close.

I did vote. I looked for something different that what we had, because it wasn't working. Now, I have my doubts. So, I choose to direct my political focus to the local scene. I worry more about streetlights and potholes than I do about Russia and Donald's blood pressure. But like most folks, it's difficult to not watch a train wreck in the making.

Good job on the writing. Pretty tight. No wasted words. Good luck in the booth. Strong contender.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I try not to let the big boys bother me but it is hard when one gets slammed with it every day in the news.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I couldn't vote for a person I had no respect for.

Interesting to see your perspective, and I certainly respect your choice to not vote when both options were distasteful to you. However, I don't necessarily agree with some of your remarks. I truly believe Obama will go down in history as one of the best Presidents you have had - he was and remains a man to be respected and admired and makes the incumbent look like the spoiled and tantrum-throwing child that he is.

There must be many formidable men and women in the USA who could handle this weighty position. Sadly, the system of finding good candidates and getting one of them elected seems flawed and especially biased in terms of requiring a huge fortune to run a successful campaign. Don't you simply yearn for a straight-talking candidate with unimpeachable integrity who can stand up and say, :I have the credentials, but I don't have the millions to waste on a grand campaign."?

Well-written piece - clear, organised and to the point.

Steve

Thank you. Yes, I do yearn for a good candidate to run. Like you stated, it takes a small fortune to run for any office.

This is a good entry for the 'I Voted' writing prompt.
Your tale is well told. Unfortunately, it's also very true. It seems there is a shortage of eligible candidates in both our countries.
Good luck to you with the competition.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It is a sad, but true fact in this country.

Very good. Well argued and a well presented point.

I, of course, have no right to comment on current American politics, as an Englishman, but from a purely literary point of view this is excellent.

Well done, and best of luck in the contest.

Take care.

-James
