Great post. I am coming through here as you reviewed a chapter of my biography a while ago. I am making a list of all my reviewers for an Acknowledgement page. Checking to see who is still on FS. A lot have left. Thanks for this thought provoking write up. I am not American but I do watch what goes on in the International political arena. We were gonna visit Mount Rushmore back in 2000, alas we never made it. Loved the picture.

Thanks. Sorry, it took so long to get back to you. I have been having some major health issues but am getting better now.

I am totally apolitical anyway but I also found myself in a similar situation as you. I wonder if there were enough of us to write in the same candidate, if that would have changed the election? I did a write-in.
One note:
Though it's hard to see in this font, you wrote Hilliary and her name doesn't have the second 'i' - just Hillary.

It sounds as though the last election threw up a dilemma for many people. Truly a choice between two weevils. Maybe you are right about Oprah! Who knows? America has a precedent for voting in an entertainer!

Good thoughts! Well written and I have to say I agree with you!
Oprah may not have any political experience but as you said, can it really get any worse?
Other countries are laughing at us for it does seem hard to believe out of ALL the people we have in the world, those were the best candidates that we could get. Pretty sad.
Again good job!

Interesting commentary on why not to vote. It reminds me of the civic lesson that we not only have the right to vote, but we also have the right to abstain from voting. Good luck in your contest.

Thank you. Yep, my thoughts exactly.

This short piece, Who's Next, starts with the prerequisite phrase and takes the stand that inaction yielded the same results as voting. We really were up against it with two bad choices. The real reason people were upset and the turd like Trump got in was not the presidential choices, which will always be the less of two evils, but the stinking Congress which is constantly being partisan instead of negotiating. Therefore, nothing gets done.

Well, I did vote, but I feel as frustrated as you sound.
I don't know why people who actually seem like good prospects never seem to get far and why people you're just sure can never win, do.
If I ever figure that question out, hah, who am I kidding? I'll never figure it out!
Good writing. Thought provoking.

Why don't you simply step in and run for the presidency, Prettybluebirds? When nobody does things the way you expect them to be done, it's probably best to do the tast yourself.
I understand your laments. In the case of Hilary Clinton, I gues the latin phrase in dubio pro reo would apply.
Great thoughts.

Thanks for reading, and no thanks, I wouldn't want the job.

A write-in vote is better than no vote at all. Who knows, maybe you goldfish would be off to a good start for 2020. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Thank you for reading and commenting. We didn't have any good candidates.

Yes, I agree, it's hard to complain when you don't vote but lots of people do. Haha. But then, people who do vote complain also, so there's really no answer.
Personally, I chose the lesser of two evils in this election and still think some good is/ will come of it.
But then -- I'm a diehard optimist.
Thanks and good luck!
