Oh, I just love this!!! Congratulations on placing in the contest! This poem is wonderful! It touched my heart. Just this week while waiting for my son to get out of school, I was staring at some of the big trees in the school parking lot. There were a couple of leaves still dangling and it made me feel kind of sad. Your poem gave me hope that maybe they, too, will get to take part in the leaf party down below. This piece leaves the reader rooting for this poor little leaf to break free and join his friends. And, it also provides a great message about never giving up! This is really well done! Congratulations again! :)

Oh my gosh. I love this poem! What a cute little story about something we usually take for granted and don't think about. Well, YOU think about it, obviously. Thank you for putting it to words. It was a pleasure to read.

A beautiful tale so eloquently told with maybe just a tiny hint of encouragement at its leafy poetic heart - a meditative experience and a great visual to accompany

What a lovely read! It is beautifully written and easy to read. Once you read the first sentence you are drawn into reading the rest. Very well written.
Kind regards

I enjoyed reading your rhyming poem The Tiny Leaf". You rhymed it well and told a beautiful story. I felt it was a perfect story to read to a child to steach about the beauty of nature.
All the best.

Ps I wrote my review before reading about the author.

A very nicely written poem about one lonely little leaf. Your poem reads very smoothly and has wonderful rhyming. Interesting, too, how you used dialogue when the fallen leaves were cheering their friend on. The ending is great, too, recognizing the new-born bud's celebration. Carol

A great metaphor using this little leaf who wouldn't give up. Try try try. Great rhythm for the read and great rhyming too. A sweet poemly story with a hidden message that is a very important message for one's life skills. Not to give up and keep trying to achieve that which is important to you.
good luck in the contest

Thank you. I'm glad you saw that in my poem. There's always one little leaf left on the tree when winter comes.

In my opinion, while it is intended to be a rhyming poem, and the end words of each line do in fact rhyme, it reads uneven in spots. This is easily corrected by reading the work aloud several times to gain the sing/song momentum of rhyming poetry. Oftentimes, it just means adding or deleting a few words here and there, for the smooth flow - just for example, with your permission:
1. One tiny leaf atop the barren tree,
hung by himself for all the world to see.
friends down below, upon frozen ground,
waited patiently, no rustling sound.
I, too, have the tendency to include too many words initially, believing they are necessary to the work or for explanation, but have learned that in all things, less is most often better...

I'm sorry you think this. Some of the best writers on this site have said it was perfectly done. I think I will leave it as it is. Thank you for reviewing.

You are very welcome, Yvonne, but opinions do differ, and while mine may deviate from others, my viewpoint is still valid, because it is my true opinion. But, and this is important, you are the writer, and yours is ALWAYS the final word regarding your poetry...Eve
