As usual, my friend, your words are touching...this one made me think of the only man I ever really loved...I swallowed hard to keep from letting that tear fall onto my cheek...I never remarried, after my Richard left us after a short illness....we married when we were both very young...and had 3 wonderful children...my oldest will be 61 years old next month..."My heart will always be close to you" that's what I would say to him right now...Thanks for sharing this with us, you have a special way with your pen...never change...All the best...

I have been with my wife for 42 years we have raised 3 wonderful kids in that time who are all adults now.

Well said - it sure does describe the longing that long distance couples have to deal with. Sometimes it does make the heart grow fonder as long as effort is made to keep the fire going. But sometimes, the fire just smolders and grows cold.

Yes, absence makes the heart grow fonder . . . for somebody else. That's what usually happens in long distance relationships. But I guess it's worth a try. 8-)
