I've been off-site for too long tending to my grand babies born six days apart, and with our fourth due in ten days, I'm not sure if I will ever get back with much consistency. I sincerely appreciate your review. In retrospect, the tree removal did make for a cleaner patio and few mosquitos, but I still miss their beauty!

Sad, but necessary. I'd suggest you plant new trees (diff kind of course) that will do well there. Maybe just one would do. They grow fast after year three in the ground. In a decade, you'll have a lovely tree again. :)

I feel your sadness and understand it. Here, in the mountains, many trees have to be cut down when the ground gets too saturated. The rocky soil causes the roots to grow outward instead of downward, and lots of rain or high winds can fell the trees in a heartbeat. Too often, the trees fall on homes, cars, or power lines.
But your trees are truly beautiful. I'm glad you wrote about them and showed us before there was nothing left to see.

I feel your sadness and understand it. Here, in the mountains, many trees have to be cut down when the ground gets too saturated. The rocky soil causes the roots to grow outward instead of downward, and lots of rain or high winds can fell the trees in a heartbeat. Too often, the trees fall on homes, cars, or power lines.
But your trees are truly beautiful. I'm glad you wrote about them and showed us before there was nothing left to see.

Hello stranger. I have missed you. I am so sorry that they have to go. But, is it possible you can plant something a little further from the house that wont cause a problem? This is really well written and not at all foolish. I had to have a beautiful, very old oak tree cut down because it was old and limbs were falling on neighbor's trees. Trimming it wasn't an option. Fortunately there were still two lovely oak trees left and we made sure to have them trimmed often to keep from having to take them down too.

This is really well written and not at all foolish. I had to have a beautiful, very old oak tree cut down because it was old and limbs were falling on neighbor's trees. Trimming it wasn't an option. Fortunately there were still two lovely oak trees left and we made sure to have them trimmed often to keep from having to take them down too.

I know how you feel. Years ago, we bought some land that had a beautiful stand of HUGE cedars. The first winter, the ice storm knocked over 13 of them. We spent an entire weekend with a come-along pulling them back up and staking them. The year of the terrible drought, we only lost one. Had we lost all of them, I would have been heartbroken. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I've been off-site for too long tending to my grand babies born six days apart, and my husband's health issues. With our fourth grnad due in ten days, I'm not sure if I will ever get back with much consistency, though I have re-upped for two years as inducement.
This home came with roof rats with the trees making easy access to the eaves. In retrospect, the tree removal did make for a cleaner patio and few mosquitos, but I still miss their beauty! Thank you!

I feel your pain. We had to chop down two evergreens from our yard. We were totally blindsided by a sewer back up in our basement after we moved in. We literally had our neighbors shit and toilet paper covering our basement. What a gross mess that was. The city knew all about our sewer issues, but it had not been revealed to us during the purchase of the house. We had roto-rooter come in and use the snake contraption to see where the break in the line occurred. It was in the middle of the street which would make it the city's responsibility. However, the city refused to admit that. They did their own snake maneuver and refused to allow my husband warch the procedure. In the end they cleared the line and promised they'd come in and clean up the mess each time the sewer backs up into our basement. YUCK! The roto rooter guy did say the tree roots were damaging the lines. So, David chopped them down. It's nice to have trees, but they cause their fair share of damage. We are poor folk and can't afford the cost of repairing the sewer pipes.

- "We've consulted, (researchedand) hoped for other options..." - needs a space between words I think.
If I know you, this will set your creative mind to work to make your yard gorgeous in a new way. Looking forward to that :)

In retrospect, the tree removal did make for a cleaner patio and few mosquitos, and removed a pathway for the resident roof rat, but I still miss their beauty!
