LOL. Fun-ee. (Not. Poor duck!) :)))))))))))

I'm not quite sure of your meter,
but that duck could use Salt Peter,
'cause the pheasant wasn't really that fowl's type.

Though the bird was very pretty,
that poor duck was not so witty;
she got all of his insurance - he can't gripe.

That's one mean lookin' duck in your photo, Bill. If looks could kill we'd all be pushin' up daisies about now.
What did the lead Mallard say to the other migrating ducks in his group as they passed over the marshes?
"DUCK!"
Okay, enough of that.
This was very well rhymed and pretty funny too.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Dean. I supposed he could have pretended to be a decoy. There's something paradoxical about that.

Thank you for sharing the world of the duck and its vicissitude's due to hunters. I admired the rhyme scheme in your quatrains and the striking artwork selection. Cheers- Joan

How many of us are finally undone by the things that we have done in the past. Funny how we thought those things would remain in the past, never guessing that our secrets would never last. Alas, it all comes out in the wash they say, what's done in the dark comes out in the light and we are left with egg on our faces, as we dribble on our shoelaces. Time is not our friend.

Absolutely love the artwork. It has character which perfectly suits this reflective poem. lol. So he did a pheasant hmm. Well I guess that's worth a remembrance on one's death bed.

Excellent poem, Bill.

Lol. Really? A duck and pheasant? I would think that would involve too many feathers. I like your humorous reflection of a duck's contemplation of his last days. Is that what humans think of - those early days of spring?

Awww, the poor bird died. What a shame. I've never hunted anything in my life. Wouldn't know how it feels. But I liked your poem though. Again you show a great sense of humour. Al the best. Ulla:))

At least, he died remembering good times.

Poor ducks. However, I know that hunters are more humane than slaughter houses. I've never hunted anything and don't expect to, except for my eyeglasses. lol

This is cute and the rhyming is good. Good flow when reading, too.

Thanks, da. I shot at ducks from a row boat when I was ten or twelve. I fell backwards into the water, dropped by brother-in-laws shotgun, and was never invited to hunt again. That was fifty years ago.

This is a very well written poem about a ducks demise. You used very good descriptive wording from a poor ducks perspective. Great job! Blessings, Teri
