The plot continues too thicken. I like how the two family murders aren't identical, but too similar too ignore...a nice and important touch. Well done.

Good morning, Brett:
The tale (plot) thickens and now I am starting to see the story unfold before me. There were certain points that you have written in this part that cleared up a lot of confusion. I have copied and pasted them below but before those I explained the reasons for my conclusion of each point. I may be right, huh?
#1 - makes it clear that the similarities in the two case names are just too coincidental and possibly crime #2 has something to do with crime #1.
#2 - This is how Drew Larsen knows Darden's full name.
#3- these are more clear reason why crime #2 is a copycat of crime #1. and the use of the word revenge. There has to be a reason for calling something revenge. What were they revenging? (avenging)
#4 - this makes me think that the word revenge may soon apply to Darden and / or his family for being the cop who shot the first murderer dead. That murderer must be related some how to Drew Larsen. I wouldn't be surprised if he was not Drew's biological father or brother. Perhaps Drew was adopted or something like that but I am just guessing. INTERESTING...
1) "Lancaster - Larsen".
The comparisons between the two crimes alarmed the Detective.
2) The fatal shot being fired by Rookie Police Officer Sean Darden. Some reports called it suicide by cop.
3) Jackson's telephoned message to the Police upon murdering his victims rang disconcertingly comparable to that of Drew Larsen's. Darden had the recording loaded into his laptop. Alone in the silence of the cruiser on the side of the road, he streamed it again.
Darden understood the relative resemblances between the two gruesome murder scenes. They could easily insinuate Drew Larsen imitated Otis Jackson as homage to the vicious monster. However, the boy had not mentioned Jackson's name at all. The only motive he offered was revenge. There was that word again.
4) An ominous voice warned him his wife and children were in grave danger from someone, or even worse, something. Of that, he was certain. The lingering question that ran through his mind was could he save them from whatever evil haunted them?

Sounds like a good plot for Criminal Minds, the TV series.
The question now is why so long a waiting period. Darden is right. His family's in danger.

Why did he feel that his family was in danger?
Nicely told story that brings a lot of questions to surface with the comparisons of the two.

Chilling, intriguing and superbly written. I love a good mystery and a little horror mixed in. Amityville Horror comes to mind. I like your detective and wonder what horrors await. Great read. Mary

Excellent chapter!!! I knew that it was something supernatural. I love it -- in time for Halloween season!
How are you doing? Enjoy writing this, and I will love reading what happens. :)

This is a fascinating twist to the story and I like where it is going.
Given your talent for writing I can't see the murder as just being a copy cat crime. You have something more in reserve for the reader

Wow. This murder mystery has the look of those that show up in the news every now and again. I compared Drew's murder of his family to women drowning their babies, or a father killing his two daughters for revenge to the mother. They are horrible. Great writing though.

Those murder mysteries take a lot of planning, I would think.

A very well-written chapter with a sinister twist, there are more than only coincidental similarities to the Lancaster and Larsen murders. To find out what the reason may be, will not be very easy and Darden feels his family might be in danger too.
