Your striking presentation and artwork selection are eye catching. I enjoyed your love poem in rhymed and rhythmic quatrains, brimming with imagery. The circularity with the repeated line is very effective as well. I hope this entry was well received in the contest. Cheers- Joan

Hello Jmf4119
What a nice rhyming love poem
Love where you said
f only I could fly away
to worlds beyond the moon --
where I could play among the stars
and hear Sinatra croon.
Then ending up saying
'd choose to be right here with you
where purple iris grow.

I love poems about flowers. Your words take the reader to another place. There is a feeling of serenity in your description of being content right where you are and with the purple Iris. Excellent poetic form.

I so enjoyed this one..
Many of us feel the same way..
We contemplate all the places we could go
And choose to stay.... right where we are
My husband and I travel in our motor home a lot...
However, there is no place like home.
Well done,
:-) Carolyn

Hi Janet
This is a wonderful poem, smooth as butter when read aloud. As Dorothy told her family and friends, "there's no place like home". So many times, we think we have to travel to see wonders. But they are all around us, some within walking distance.
Nice presentation, I like the soft purple background.
"and hear Sinatra croon" ... (I like that you wrote that. I tease a girl at work all the time about Michael Buble. She is a huge fan of his. I tell her he's just a Frank Sinatra wannabe. The old crooners were irreplaceable... Frank, Bobby Darin, Perry Como, Andy Williams. (I'm showing my age too.) One of my all-time favorite songs... "Somewhere, beyond the sea".
Some nice alliteration in this line,
"ski down the slopes in Switzerland"
Your poem is just the right length. You get your point across without going on and on needlessly.
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

This is simply lovely - the words flow so naturally - and rhythm and rhyme
work well - I liked it so much, I read it through again, but aloud - it's kind of
softly soothing. As you say - the grass isn't always greener on the other side....
we've travelled far and wide, but there's no place like home, amongst our loved-ones.
Good luck with the contest, my friend.

Excellent entry for contest, author. Don't know about you, but all shades of purple have a calming effect on me, and the illustration enhances this poem. Also your choice of background and font colours. We all have a bucket list, I guess, but valuing what you have is far more important, and I commend your theme. Good luck in the contest.

Now, in my book, Julu, this is exactly what my characters can do. :-)
If only I could fly away
to worlds beyond the moon --
where I could play among the stars
and hear Sinatra croon.
Or sail upon a Viking ship,
flamenco dance in Spain,
ski down the slopes in Switzerland
and ride the midnight train.
But if I traveled round the world
and learned all I could know,
I'd choose to be right here with you
where purple iris grow.
Loved your closing verse. A beautiful poem and I found no errors.

There's no place like home - especially with one whom you love! No matter how exotic a holiday might be, it's always good to get back home again, surrounded by the things and the people you love. A fine love poem for the contest!
