The Map
It is only a prelude to the solitude of longitudes
This arrow straight through the heart of adopted zero
The meridian of human existence
Is but a misshapen circle of life pumping love Â
Often marked by the latitude
Between open arms closing for a hug
From the left  to the right
An arc of  invisible Light
Either the negative or the positive
Both a moment frozen free of time
A zone without Distance
An echo without Rhyme Â
The ethereal pole of affections
True north of that place unbound
The most expensive of all luxuries
With the cheapest ticket price around
Despite the ease of departure
And the low initial cost
Ever a difficult expedition
Where many an intrepid soul
Has gotten profoundly lost
Even though equipped
With an age old legend
marked by an archaic reference
And a continuously updated source
Ultimately it is the map itself
That remains hopelessly unsound
Still we individually persist to chart the journey
And attempt to plot the proper course
To a destination that is rarely, ever, truly found
With a terrain of multitude nuances
To obscure, confuse and astound
As we attempt to avoid the pitfalls
And the precipices that so completely surround Â
Trekking our way ever forward in the hope to meet someday
On that most sacred of all common ground

Easy to see why this ran out a winner. The situation is of course familiar to most of us and many of us in desperation have written about it when we can't think of anything else, but i don't think I have ever seen an ad like this in the lost and found section. The idea of the muse playing hide-and-seek is a good one too. Congratulations.

Hi
What a wonderful 5-7-5 poem, congratulations on your win.
Which describes writer's block with such vivid imagination.
The word play is fantastic which strengthens your statement brilliantly.
Mitchell.

Congratulations on the win!
Ironic, isn't it -
So many lose their muse then write a poem about it and win contests,
seemingly without their muse,
or perhaps the muse was simply waiting in the other room .
I think your muse was it the voting booth.
Sorry, no sixes left for you fine winner.

This is funny and immediately evoked a smile--it's also poignant because we all feel this sense of frustration. Well done capturing the "obvious" and the "deep" messages. Congrats on your win for this clever and thoughtful poem.

You must have taken a heavy knock to the head friend, having a playful muse running loose with one's lost mind sounds like a recipe for chaos. Just make sure you write about it when you manage to find it again : )
Nice contest offering... good luck!
