Ya see, Susan?
This winning poem is proof positive that a contest entry doesn't have to be highly promoted or read by many to still come out on top.
It's not about the presentation or whether or not you've used music, animations, or any other bells and whistles to enhance it.
What TRULY matters are the words themselves, and how well written it is...like this.
Congrats on your first place finish in the contest.
Well deserved...

This 2-4-2, Child's Eyes, has the correct number of syllables in the proper place and drills home the fact that those eyes are absorbing all around them and making decisions on what is good and what is not. They are crystal sponges that take it all in.

True qualities of a child's eyes . They are captivating and they see what we adults fail to observe. Best of luck for the contest.

Yes, as any loving parent would agree, the eyes of a child, openly revealing the innocent vulnerability of the soul within, are truly captivating (as God intended, to promote bonding of parent and child). But your Lilly, at greater risk than most children, shows here in her eyes both her trust in your care for her and her own will to survive the adversities she faces as well as to thrive despite them (which she certainly has done over the years since this photo was taken). Heartwarming.

Hi Mike, i remember the moment i took this picture...and yes, it was well before we had a diagnosis for lilly. She was still a "mystery." Even as a small child..lilly had a way of drawing you in..she is just such a tender soul! and as she gets older, that will to survive and persevere continues...She is such a blessing!..there is a gentleness about lilly...everybody instantly loves her.She is just so special! :-) thanks for the review.

You are welcome. Lilly is proof that adversity for an individual can be turned into a blessing for many by a determined spirit. Admirable. -- Mike

This speaks confidently and passionately how it looks poet's darling daughter's eyes, obviously the child's eyes are soulful (deep feeling, profoundly emotional) and captivating indeed; I liked.
