and poured the ice-cold liquid over Phillip's carrot-top, sending raspberry punch running down his chest and pooling on the floor around where he laid. I left him there in tears, humiliated by what I had done to him. (I like hearing that. I hate bully's.Even in the movies they are always overweight and always have red hair.)

Glad you enjoyed this portion of my autobiography.
I do not like bullies either.
Standing up to them is the only way to stop them.

Brett,
I am enjoying your story. I intend to catch up on the chapters I have missed. [You do not have to respond to my reviews]. You are a great storyteller. The fight scene was well detailed. I could see it in my mind. Thanks for sharing such personal memories. Jan

I have to respond to all reviews I receive. Like those Geico commercials say, "It's what I do".
Glad you are enjoying my autobiography.

Hi Brett. I think your biographical posts on your childhood are particularly good ones. My heart goes out to kids who suffer this plight, as in your case the death of your mom. So sorry for that. Your post focuses on childhood in an institution as well as the awful scourge of bullying. Oftentimes, as you mention here, the bully suffers no consequences. The upside of victims' retaliation is that they are usually left alone after that. This is an interesting and clearly written article that I enjoyed reading. Marilyn

I can see you were and still are a survivor Brett.
You had a hard row to hoe after you were left an orphan.
I find your story to be very interesting and worth following. Good job. Nancy

I'm guessing we're traveling back before the street days when you first met your dad. There still seems to be a story to tell that precedes HH and comes between these two chapters.

You had a raw deal in life, but I guess it teaches you to survive, one has to be quicker than physically stronger others, but I've always thought that battling is about taking advantage, and bullies would usually like to intimidate verbally first to gain advantage, but quickness of wit, making the first move works. Well done. Very sad, but you obviously never felt sorry for yourself. Well done, good read. Well done, blessings, Roy

Hi Brett; another well written story about the trials of your youth. Your descriptive words allowed me to see the buildings and I tried to imagine you as a little kid struggling to make it in this world.
Thank you for sharing, and I look forward to more,
