Glad you explained about the money amount difference. Family problems make great subjects for writing. The dialogue is believable and flows well. Like that her husband came home to help.

You've switched from first person in the first chapter to third person here, so best to go back to the first chapter & make that all third person.
...mother gone - someone....seven years ago (dash instead of comma?) but his wife...
maybe... "We haven't spoken to them since Dad's funeral... ?
Quite a few "I will"s that can be contracted to "I'll"s.
Taking his cell phone...maybe say 'Doug' instead of 'he' prepared.... (since it's a new scene?)
That's it. Hope you have lots of fun with the grandkids!

When In laws and siblings are estranged it's not an easy thing. The daughter in law was put in a complex position to make arrangements for the funeral. I wonder why this is happening. But I thought this in the first part. The in-laws aren't taking it well. The story is very interesting and I look forward to where it will lead. Doug is being a good trooper to notify siblings after strained relationships. Nicely done.

Amazing writing! It`s very clean and very entertaining. I`m glad you told what happened in part one for those who didn't read it. I like the picture you put with it. A stamp picture is perfect for writing that is titled, "The Letter." I really did enjoy your work!

That next section where she is explaining everything to her I believe husband is so emotional. You have a great way of bringing out the emotions in your writes.
