Lovely senryu, the few words say so much. It's interesting how poems pop into one's mind. I often send haiku to myself on my mobile phone when I am out walking. Sorry I haven't been onto FS for so long, life's been a bit busy (good busy)
I really enjoy your poetry

I am pleased you captured the moments that you observed and shared the emotive senryu with us. The "cycle of life" satori makes this piece personal for all readers. Sighs- Joan

This is a fine senryu with a narrative arc not only of youth and age but of people returning to the early acts of their lives. Your poem forms an evocative picture of what you witnessed on the train, conveying a man's love and guidance of his grandpa as grandpa did for him in earlier years.
Other than misspelling "fragile" in your author's notes as "fragil," I found no other flaws. This poem is a gem.
Thank you for sharing.

Gypsy,
I think this is a terrific senryu. It captures all the elements of aging and watching someone we love aging, too. It's sad and sweet and sentimental, all at the same time. Wonderful!

You're welcome! Btw, so far, we've sold about 15 books to three of the authors. One is still working w PayPal to order 10 for herself but having issues at the moment. Yay!
Sorry I missed that meeting last Sunday. Still a lot going on here and now we're preparing for a big family vacay so I'll also be gone for the next two sundays. My level of commitment is still high it's just that I have a lot of other things that demand my time. If that's a problem, I understand and will step down if the group desires it.
Otherwise, I hope to talk to everyone as soon as possible. Thanks so much!

Good news about the books, cool!

None of us can ever picture ourselves as being old, but then it happens. Seemingly overnight. That face, weathered and worn, changing every day since it was born. Time tested through the cycle of life, gives a better description than old. For we still have a few uses left, or at least that's what I choose to think. LOL! Great job. :-)

thank you for sharing this lovely poem about the bond between grandparent and child. The holding of hands brought a smile to my face; I can remember holding onto my grandmother in those last years - her hands were brittle with arthritis, but still she gripped my hand as she had when I was little.
