Too bad this didn't make it to the contest. I think it fits well in the current tone of the times... Where it used to be those aliens coming to blow us up were the villains, and anymore, it's harder and harder to blame them as a thinking species looking down at the train wreck that is sensed...
On one hand, I want to say that people are getting better, but the capacity to do damage has just increased faster than the rest of what they need to not suck so bad, has.
Ah well, I just wanted to let you know I read this... and empathized with the sentiment that if aliens were flying by, I shudder to imagine the judgement if they stopped to take a peek at what's going on, just enviornmentally alone.

Hi Turtle,
Thanks for reviewing :)
I suspect if there is life "out there", and they have detected our presence, they probably couldn't give a rats. We're still trying to figure out how to make it to our nearest neighboring planet, so I don't think they have too much to fear from trillions of miles away.
Still, who knows? Maybe bovines have evolved to be the super-intelligent species on some other planet -- we could be in a spot of bother then. "Revenge of the cow-people!"
Cheers,
Craig

I want to know why they pick New York city to start the demolecularization. Interesting story Craig. The explanation of why this will happen is so true like, but really, are we that bad? lol
cheers,

I'm afraid we are Valda lol
New York for a couple of reasons: it's big, and would get a lot of attention, and also it's where Donald Trump hangs out a lot ;-)
Thanks,
Craig

I thought the Don would have something to do with it. LOL

Great job with this, Craig. I enjoyed it immensely. We are our own worst enemy. We think things will go on and on. The more humans there are, spreading like a disease, fewer species will survive us. Marilyn

Thanks for the lovely review, Marilyn. Sad, but true - we are the enemy of all other life.

You and I are coming from the same place on this, Craig. We like to think of ourselves as wildlife protectors but we micromanage everything to the point of doing more harm than good. Nature has a way of healing itself if we would just butt out of theirs.

Hi Craig,
Poor New York City! Couldn't you have started with Sydney, or is that too close to home? lol Is that silly git ready to be vaporized for his apparent chagrin and being born human?
In order to be a blockbuster story, somehow the humans have to prevail. Otherwise, I see nothing to improve. As for social commentary, you made your point. You always do. :)

I figured we'd start with Trump Tower, Kim. It only seems fair :) Thanks for reviewing! Craig

Yikes! Is this the way it will all end. Maybe. I don't see how it can continue much longer. A well written breif story. You're very talented.

Thanks for the lovely compliment. I don't know if that is what will happen, but who could blame them?

They're just starting with New York City, as seems only right :) Thanks for reviewing, much appreciated.

Well I plan to give you my two cents worth. Not a new theme, but the dialogue is crisp and the story doesn't wander around or merely rant. I am reminded of the Joe Friday character, a police sergeant on the ancient TV program Dragnet, where he always had to say, "Just the facts, Ma'am/Sir," as people wandered around their stories or dithered incoherently (which happens quite often here, actually). So I give you a five and look forward to something I can actually vote on.

Haha, thanks Wendy. I appreciate your two cents worth (literally).I won't be doing another story for that particular contest, but there'll be others. Cheers, Craig.

Poor New York city! It just keeps on getting hammered! You know, Craig, your fictional story may not be that far off the mark, and may one day end up being truth. For those who believe in Aliens, this scenario could seem quite plausible. Your story makes a great commentary on how man is destroying the earth, animal life and is overpopulating the planet. If there are other life forms out there, more intelligent than man, they may well pull the plug on us one day.
Well done! - - Connie

Who could blame them? But I think we'll beat them to it. Thanks for the great review, Connie :) craig.

Yes, you're probably right. We'll beat them to it. :)

Done that before friend so you are not alone there : ) The scary thing is you could imagine the scenario above being played out for real if our creators were watching our progress through the ages. Man is more destroyer, than creator pure and simple, and that is sad!

This is an interesting read.
Great dialogue.
Good artwork: The image shown goes well with the story.
I was about to say that this would have made a great entry in the Sudden Flash Fiction Contest until I saw the author's notes.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your future writing.

Thanks for reading and reviewing :) I actually did it for the doomsday contest, but it wasn't meant to be, obviously.
