I did enjoy reading this cute poem. I remember kick-the-can, too. Back in those days kids of all ages played together--and wasn't that nice? Last two lines are especially good, switching gears to your new neighbor. Marilyn

Hahaha! Love the twist at the end! The timbre is beautifully childlike and the pyramid shape worked well. It reminded me of a speech by Mickey in Blood Brothers, complaining about always being the younger one and having a big brother. I don't have any suggestions for improvement! Holly :)

This is a GREAT read, especially for children.
--I remember that game. We used to play it while the knuckle heads cracked jokes: 'You're so poor, I saw you kicking a can. I asked what you were doing and you said, 'Moving.'- We used to think it was so funny.
The artwork is good. The image shown supports the poem. The background color goes well with the art.
Best of luck to you in the contest.
Thanks for sharing your Etheree.
Good luck with your future writing.

Thanks so much for your kind review. It is fun composing poetry in the different styles that are presented in the various contests. I was unaware that there were so many varieties.

Hi there,

Ay yes, the good old games of our youth that most kids these days have never heard of, which is to their detriment. the youngest and smallest always lost out, but then time moves on and newer fodder arrive.

Nice well worked piece.

This is a fun children`s poem. This reminds me of my childhood when I would play hide and seek. Oh, how fun times those were! I would go back if I could but I also love being an adult so much. In the future, I want my children to have a good childhood. I hope that you have a wonderful day.
