Good poem. My cat wants me to pet her as I write this--LOL!
My favorite part is:
Then, I recall the gentleness of your sweet touch
How holding you made me feel so much
The taste of your kiss. The look in your eye
How could I have ever told you goodbye
Thank you for sharing

hi an interesting way to go about this lyric writing contest. I like the idea and the images that it makes for me.
odd it is that people must put names to things...to me this is a stand alone song...could be any one,and it is bittersweet

Very good. I can see ol' Willie singing this song between "Whiskey River" and "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground."
I enjoyed reading it and singing it in my head. keep up the good work.
Thank you for sharing,
Dan

Dear Mystery Poet,

I thought this was a great entry for the lyrics contest. I thought it was original and sweet and melancholy, too. An unexpected combination -- well, maybe not for a country song -- *smile* -- but for this place. Good luck!

Country music is said to be "three chords and the truth."

I am a really big fan of Willie Nelson. I have been his fan for about 40 years now. He was the first Country singer I liked.

This could make a nice country duet. Maybe Kristofferson and Parton together. They've done it before.

Arrangement and narrations are very good. Chosen explanations are made very clear and descriptive. The descriptive words are well chosen. Telling things very plain and comprehensible.

I saw no SPAG and no typos. Everything looked in place.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

I think it's an interesting concept, kind of blending theatre and music in one form. it comes off sounding rather dramatic, in a romantic sort of style. its difficult to say what the effect would be without hearing the music this is intended to be set to. You might want to consider doing a sound track with this to round it out. estory

The narrator here reminded me of Maurice Chevalier in Gigi singing Ah yes, I remember it well. OMG that was 1958. It is nothing like it in one respect but the sentiment is I feel the same. I would love to hear this one "got at" by a good composer.

This is wonderfully, cleverly arranged. The alternating dialogue with song works so well. This would make a powerful performance art piece. I recently watched several YouTube performance art videos, and Andrea Gibson's 'Maybe I Need You' comes to mind. Her performance started with song and guitar then right into a powerful poetry recitation. Yours feel more melancholic (in a good way) than her piece, but would make a great performance piece. :)

Fabulous, the progression of both dialogue and song. Well done!

A mournful country-western song in the classic tradition. I can almost hear Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline speaking/singing. We find ourselves empathizing with both characters.

In a lot of breakups, don't both sides wish they could share one more experience together...sometimes?

I think your song lyrics are good. I was wondering if you could incorporate the narrator's words into the song, if they aren't already. Yes, I get what you mean by "sometimes". Excellent work. I would love to hear the melody.
